Does AI have an issue with admitting it was not able to collect enough verified information to give you a real answer? I've been trying google's AI out on getting video game gameplay advise but it seems to freely mix up sources including other games and real life analogs rather than say I'm not sure or can you provide more information so I can narrow it down. If you give it a sourced correction it will admit it just "hallucinated" information but it never prefaces that their info was not ironclad to begin with.

>>108958090no I want my ethernet to be a different network
>>108958154That depends on a bunch of things, devices have different ports, not all cables are the same speed, same thing with network devices, if you mean internet connection specifically then your speeds might be capped by the plan you have and so even if you have everything else setup for higher speeds your ISP just won't let you. But ethernet, like pretty much all wires, is more stable connection it doesn't get fucked with by other wireless signals and there's not really any signal drop off unless you're going to run a ridiculously long cable.

Is the IT Dusters CompuCleaner Xpert computer duster good? I'm tired of buying canned air and I was wondering if this thing will last me a few years. I live in Europe and I can't find a DataVac/MetroVac in my country.I know about those small chink fans (like woflbox) but most of them use batteries that you can't easily find replacements for. And some of the wired ones have problems with the cable, they short out, or they overheat and light on fire.
I thought my laptop had a hardware issue but now I'm thinking it's just a software issue and I figure some smart ni/g/gas might know. Maybe even there's some way to fix it.So, when I scroll using mousewheel on discord's standalone app (not web browser version), often it leaves behind artifacting and duplicate ghost elements on the screen. Pic rel is a very common example where the emoji bar and message highlighting are duplicated on the message I was hovering before the scroll and after, when the app is designed to only highlight the current one. The artifacting breaks up sometimes in ways that looks really ugly (like half the emoji bar showing while half vanishes) and I thought maybe it was a GPU issue. The thing I noticed that gave me a eureka moment is that I was using my old laptop today and it happened on this device too, when it never did in the years I used it normally. I suspect some windows setting I use is causing this, maybe changing the text size under Window's accessibility options is causing the app to malfunction? My eyesight has gotten bad and yesterday I tweaked several of these types of settings on my old laptop to match the new one, and also did security updates (old in Win10, new is Win11, issue is on both). I can't imagine it's to do with the updates since it's on both OS and not widespead because I can't find other people talking about this, which makes me think it's connected to accessibility settings and hopefully benign and not going to damage the machines or a sign the machines are already damaged. For reference I've tried changing plenty of settings within discord for things like turning hardware acceleration on and off, and the glitches happen both ways. Any clues or explanations would be nice, or maybe someone knows enough about tech and discord to know about this obscure bug. I have searched and really couldn't find anyone else talk about this exact issue.
>>108955611AI will always try to appease you and answer your questions. You can see this happen even with insanely simple stuff, pic rel is a classic where it will often just make up a number for no real reason if you ask it how many of a letter is in a word. Another classic is asking if there is a seahorse emoji and to show it to you, there isn't one but often the AI will be trapped in a loop of presenting you an emoji while claiming it's a seahorse, then saying that was wrong, then showing you another and claiming this is the real seahorse, over and over until it runs out of room.If you ask it "what is 2+2" it will search the info it can access and find you the answer. If for some reason the answer it finds is wrong (like sourcing a reddit user that posts 2+2=5 as a joke) or it can't find an answer, it will basically always just make something up that fits the scraps it did find. If it found no scraps it'll be a complete guess essentially. If you do want to ask it things you don't plan to verify yourself, you should at least always type "verify this" or "I think you are wrong" because the success rate skyrockets on a 2nd attempt. I think this is because the AI sometimes gives a lazy low effort response to what it sees as an easy question (like the number of "c"s in the word tomorrow" and then if you tell it that was wrong it will actually take a moment to research it, even if it really should have done that before providing an answer the 1st time.

>>108958552malwarebytes is one of the better ones in my experience, and the free version is fine, just make sure if it's not auto-running that you update and run it pretty regularly. something I've found important is checking any sus downloads you're doing manually. like, if you pirate a movie file, run that shit through https://www.virustotal.com/gui/ before you open the file bro. You just upload the file and very fast it will check it with a huge list of good virus checkers. pic rel is an example of just 2 of the scanners thinking something is sus, and you can look further into it from there if you want. typically if something is bad it'll light up quite a few red ones because most people putting malware in something are using known malware instead of bespoke stuff. but if you care about the machine, and virustotal has even 1 site tell you not to trust it, just consider if it's worth any risk on whatever file you got.

Is a bios vulnerability very dangerous? Mine is outdated and has a known vulnerability but I dont want to update in case it just breaks everything.
What happened to freetube (latest version btw)? Did i miss something?
>>108956311i just reinstalled because my shit kept getting accessed even though i kept changing passwords and had 2fa on everything
>>108959712if you get your updated bios from the manufacturer's website or equivalent, and have reliable power (aka it isn't gonna shutdown over like a 3 minute period) you might as well update it. for laptops this is trivial because of the battery, if it's a desktop and you're super paranoid you can use a backup generator to power it for that time if you need to, I hook my PC up to one for bios updates just to not jinx it. the vulnerability only matters if someone tries to take advantage of it, but if they do it's gonna be free entry as a known vulnerability. bios is basically the deepest layer of the machine so if they compromise that they can brick the machine, and frankly if they just brick it and don't do something worse using that control you're lucky. if you never pirate anything or download files you're not sure are safe, you'll likely be fine either way, but I'd just update the bios if I were you.
>>108959745this shit is the worst. make sure you never toggle on any of the shit like "remember me/stay logged in on this browser" because if they're getting past 2fa they probably have session tokens you allowed the website to generate.

>>108959822lenovo will have a dedicated bios file for specifically your machine on their website, download it and put an extra copy of the installer on a flash drive if you want to be truly sure:1. Download the latest BIOS and even the 2nd newest version if you want directly from lenovo, verifying the exact model # of your machine for compatibility2. Copy the 2 BIOS installers to a flash drive formatted in FAT-32, in the root folder (aka it's not in a folder, you see it when you open the flash drive)3. Make sure your laptop has plenty of power (no 20% battery BS) and plug it in to the wall4. Run the BIOS update of the latest version. It's scary but it's over in like 3 minutes5. If it breaks the machine somehow (less than 1% chance honestly), you're fine, just insert the flash drive and you can install the BIOS from that by selecting the BIOS file on boot up.6. You even have a backup BIOS installer if the newest one is magically incompatible despite being for your exact machine, but realistically you'll never need that

I hope this can apply here. I have this gague cluster for an old scooter that I want to make sure the gagues work before I reassemble the whole bike. How can I do this?>Why?Mainly the temperature gague. While the fluids are still drained I wanted to see if it still worked so I can know if I should start looking around for aftermarket gagues/sensors so I don't have to drain the fluids more than I need to.The circuit "board" is just a flimsy green plastic sheet with wiring running around it if that means anything. My desktop has space for two extra cooling fans, one 80 mm in the back and a massive 100 mm on the side (I don't know if I would fit due to the GPU, but whatever). Is there anything particularely wrong with the m5 macbook airs that reviews tend to gloss over? I'm looking for a device for essentially getting away from my desk. I'll still be doing all of my gaming and work stuff on my desktop, so I really only need the second device for media consumption and browsing on the couch and in bed. Ideally it would also last at least 3-4 years and not require much fiddling. I don't mind fiddling and messing with my desktop, but I'd prefer my secondary device to just work. I have t450s with linux on it, but the screen is hot garbage and the fan makes this anoying slight whistle noise even at low speed, so it pretty much goes unused since a couple of years. Currently I use a 2021 Fire HD tablet with the amazon shit removed, but the battery is starting to go and I'm getting increasingly annoyed at using mobile apps instead of having desktop programs. Reason I'm considering the M5 air is because I can get it through a program at work that means I get about a 55% discount on it. I can get windows laptops as well, but the selection is limited to current models only and most of them seem pretty big.
>>108977202Clearly freeBSD. though a lot of drivers get ported to the other BSDs.

>>108987897Sure, but more importantly it's much quieter. If thermals are a problem, I recommend you underclock, undervolt, and/or power limiting your pc. You only lose a couple percent performance anyway.
>>108982333there might be lots of content following zeros or ones in file to mobile network something something

>>108987668>>108987806Yep. Word of advice, enjoy the free sign-up tiers while they still exist. As AI companies push to become more profitable, eventually they're going to get rid of the free stuff altogether and start charging a minimum $3-5 a month to get 5 messages a day. It costs them for every token, so it doesn't make sense for them to hand them out for free like candy and expect to turn a profit. Having it free without a sign-up, and now just having a free sign-up tier, these are just to get people interested in the product otherwise it would be hard to convince people to pay for a service they haven't even tried before. Now the public is interested, they don't have to try to push it anymore. It's no coincidence that the free sign-up tiers are more restrictive than the login-free experience was.
>>108987897Longer but probably not double. Also potentially running a fan excessively low could actually cause more wear (but your fan controller probably won't allow that).
>>108955325Are there any TV Remote apps for your phone that work anymore? All the ones I find are either subscriptions or ad pits
I have never made a real personal project, just uni projects + stuff for work.Is that bad? And if so, how do I go about remedying this? I am genuinly this uncreative and aimless
>>108956311#1 Log in to your router and check for suspicious connections, change your wi-fi password and router password to something strong#2 Check your router logs (if you have any) for suspicious traffic#3 Double check apps you have on your phones/PC, if you feel threatened back up your important safe files to a USB and reinstall your OS and factory reset your phone#4 Change your passwords and emails for everything, starting with your email passwordThats probably as much as anyone realistically needs to do, unless you have some extremely fucked hardware level malware (extremely unlikely) I doubt anything else could be wrong you may just be paranoid or using a password thats been in a breach somewhere.

Does anyone know how to make that Firefox always opens full screen? Not the kiosk mode because I want to access the tools bar when needed.

Is icloud with the advanced end-to-end encryption setting enabled secure (meaning Apple can't read the files)? I have an ipad and mainly want an easy way to automatically backup my procreate files and stuff.
I'm kind of confused hereI have an ASUS ROG Ally, and the built-in software lets you limit CPU Wattage to 10W to maintain battery life and control thermals (Silent Mode) but I can also enable CPU Boost at the same timeWhat does it mean to limit the CPU power to 10W but also have CPU Boost enabled? Will it go above my desired power limits if I do this? Am I better off just disabling CPU Boost? I can't seem to get a straight answer online
I bought Apple Earpods (3.5mm) despite not owning any other Apple devices. The audio quality is great, and I knew going into it that the volume buttons only work on Apple shit and didn't mind. What I didn't know is that Apple swapped mic and ground around: Is there a premade adapter that switches these around? I tried a bunch of keywords but all I got were TRS/TRRS adapters and ones for Lightning USB-C. I could DIY it if there isn't, but would rather buy one that looks nice ootb
I'm not convinced there's a good note taking app on andgroid at all, the closest i found was orgzly revived, but exporting notes is a tedious as fuck process for some reason, seriously not having batch export is so retarded. Please help, I am desperate for a good notes app...

>>108990125cpu boost usually refers to the cpu frequency going above the base clock, and it's very very normal nowadays - especially for mobile chips with low base clocks. Think of it as a clock minimum, as it'll only ever go lower if you are thermal throttling (your cpu is too hot) - and I assume that isn't a problem, but you might wanna check. The power limit will probably lower the boost clocks for cores during a multi-threaded workload. Though an extreme power limit can prevent single cores from boosting to their max too.I would also see if you can undervolt it at all, but that's often not allowed on those mobile chips.
My mouse's wheel is jittery (scrolling back and forth whenever I try to scroll it).So I opened it up to try and clean the encoder. Keep in mind I am very bad with repairs and this is pretty much the first time I do something like this. The problem is that my encoder seems to be designed differently from that I find in most youtube tutorials. I can't remove the wheel from the encoder, and I don't have direct access to it so I can't just drop some alcohol on top of it, there's this metal plate over it, not sure if you can see it well in the diagram. To make matters worse I found no tutorials on youtube about this specific mouse. How do I deal with this?

>>108992049looks like a bog standard encodercan't you just pull out the wheel? use a bit force they can be quite tight
>>108992027Why can't you pull the right side up first? The plastic holder should flex a little. That worked for my mouseAnd if you need to test, I found this site good when I had this problem: https://fractalglider.github.io/fun/2018/02/13/testing-mouse-scroll-wheel.html
Anyone who is into audio?I'm planning to get an Edifier MR5 for my desktop. Setup is this:L speaker - monitor - R speaker - computer caseMy computer case has a glass side panel, so I'm worried that the speakers may vibrate my computer and either break the glass or create rattling noises. Is this the case though?
>>108992087Just buy a pair of Sennheiser or Beyerdynamic headphones like a normal person.>the speakers may vibrate my computer and either break the glass or create rattling noisesThis won't happen. You'd need like a 100 decibels that perfectly match the glass' structure.

What should you do if you are too tired to program but when you try sleeping for a bit you just stay awake since you're subconscious is still worried/stressed? I tried drinking coffee when tired but that doesn't seem to help with productivity for me.
>>108992168Are you able to shift your focus on something else? Just try to make scenarios in your head, something like cooking works. What might also help is breathing slower / deeper; The way general anesthetics work is they slow your heart rate by slowing your breathing, could also try melatonin.p.s. Don't focus on sleeping either, that paradoxically makes it harder to fall asleep.
