Who's vetting the AI-coded/assisted kernel commits? Is this just a nothingburger or is there a real cause for concern? Discuss below.

LGTM, approved

considering many people are even offloading PR reviews to AI i'd say it's a pretty big concern. linux kernel is big enough that early adopters will complain loud enough before it becomes your problem though

This kills troonix faggots

why?
AI is better than goys at coding
Linus himself uses AI coding assistants

What's the use case for being a seething lintroon?
>>
>>108956270
which parts of the kernel are the AI commits touching?
could just be another case of Jevons paradox where small unimportant but time consuming tasks no one wanted to do in the past can now easily be done with AI so people are rushing to fill those gaps
>>
>>108957710
You hate him because he's right about everything, lintroon.
>>
>>108957698
This is the key. They can be typo fixes or adding const to a function parameter for all I know. Volume doesnt mean anything by itself
>>
>>108957698
They're touching anything and everything from USB to networking.

The subsystem maintainers. The guy that already maintains networking or USB, etc, is tasked with reviewing these commits. Importantly they follow the usual development process of being sent to the mailing lists. They won't just get pulled in without any review.

This is like complaining about firewood being chopped with a chainsaw instead of being cut down with an axe.

It's not the tool, it's who uses the tool.

RHEL has an AI assistant in its terminal now. IBM is all for it.

rpm-based distros are so dead lmao
>>
>>108957953
That's the joke IBM de facto owns linux now what they say goes.
>>
>>108956859
The problem is idiots with no domain knowledge generating code they cant review or understand.
>>
>>108957954
Just like (you) :]

I'm sure it's all high-quality fully-audited OSS code.
