Basically I miss what Linux offered in terms of innovation and customization. But after realizing that the fragmented ecosystem isn't a stable platform for anything long term I switched back to Windows 10 (which has been forced upgraded into 11) and while I enjoy the stability and software compatibility I feel like I went back to an abusive obese ex with an attitude about everything.

Im so glad i don’t let my computer’s operating system dictate my life like this. You must have some real problems in life or is this it?

How about you actually use your computer instead of tinkering. Remember, the point of an operating system is to run user applications in a resource efficient manner. That's it. It's purely utilitarian.

tinkering is necessary in every case because the defaults SUCK BALLS on EVERY platform NO EXCEPTIONS
if tinkering is easy, then I can get the computer to move out of my way to do what's necessary
if tinkering is impossible, then it goes in the trash where it belongs

can you inform microslop about this? it doesnt seem like they know

Yes, but tinkering should only be done to get the application you actually want to use to run. In reference to OP I was talking about the second you start leaning on vibes for what OS you should run is always misinformed and a waste of time.
>>108956767
Yes all OSes have their problems, but for the applications I want to use run best on Windows. I use Linux at work because it makes the most sense for the applications I run there. That's that. An OS is a tool. It's not a personality trait. You're not cool or unique because you run an obscure linux distro.

I compare it to being so indecisive about what pen you should use to write with. Constantly switching back and forth between this Japanese pen or this German pen etc and not actually, you know, using it to draw or write.

FTFY

that sounds about right. I chose software that respects me even if it means slight inconience due to less funding and have been for a long time
