>>108959223>each of them have one external 5.25" drive slot>look into it>the drive is internal
>>108959242Look again, fignuts.
>>108960780looks like it goes inside
Fractal Define bros... Would you?
>>108959223Why is this a big deal? My fractal case has a 5.25 bay which I have a blu-ray r/w drive in. By far THE best case maker out right now, you can even get their stuff without the gay ass window. It is a shame that lian-li turned to shit but these guys replaced them.
>>108960805I might be tempted just to put one of my old 5" floppy drives in it for a laughthere's no disks in my house man
Based but unlike other PC parts cases aren't that bad. There's so much chinkshit and niche companies releasing PC cases in every style and form factor imaginable. You don't need to get the generic "RGB gaming tempered glass" case.
>>108960805My last PC was built into a Define R5, but when I was starting to look at upgrading I found Fractal's more recent offerings to be kind of meh; like, the North gets mediocre reviews for the quality of its construction and the wooden front grille which causes a lot of noise due to turbulence, the Meshify 3 was initially well received but Fractal's fan bearings are second-rate and so when they wear out the sound profile of the case deteriorates significantly (and of course, it uses 180mm fans which are less-universal than 120/140/200 so you're kinda fucked for replacing them with anything better) also it got real expensive after the shipping tarrif situation, and while the full sized Torrent is mostly pretty nice it has a few issues related to it being several years old now and also the 180mm fan problem of the Meshify 3. In the end I went over to the silver side.Pic related was expensive, but it's a "buy once, cry once" situation; the quality is insane, I'll probably be using it as long as I'm alive and the ATX spec remains a thing.
>>108959223>>108960780>external Not sure you know what that word means
This is literally a fucking ad. Please explain to me how it isn't.
>>108960780is this bait?
I have their S1000 case and it's pure garbage. It's noisy as fuck because it's so cheaply built that everything rattles. Terrible for cable management as well. I'm never cheaping out on cases again.
you can go to a hardware store and buy some metal and construct your own case. All you need are mounts for components and holes for ventilation and cables. It will cost you $10 and about 30-60 minutes of time. If you're not making $40+ an hour there is no reason to ever buy a case.
>>108959223>each is taller than the last >all only have one 5.25" expansion bayRetarded.
>>108962014tallest case fits in one more 12cm fan and a full atx motherboardsmallest case is matxthe one in the middle is atx without any extra space but is a tight fit
>>108960805No. The Define R5 is still better. It has two 5.25 bays and you can correctly secure the drives with screws in front and back. With the S25 you only have screws in the front. So your valuable optical drives will deform.
>>108961735Another R5 would have been better. The D1 doesn't even have sound damping.
Just want to chip in that I bought a R5 for my home server with 2 enterprise Toshiba drives that were driving me crazy. Now the clicking can barely be heard. I'm happy with the choice.
>cheap cases>when nobody can afford to build a new PC
>>108962205there is a possibility you want to move your current parts to another case because your case right now is even worse than this sharcoon offering
>>108959223>Smallest model doesnt have a transparent glass dooris it actual glass or plastic?
>>108961813It's an ad just as much as jannies an tranny faggots.
>>108961813I FAAK YOUR MUDDER
>>108960804That could be a cover/door on the front, like on the fractal design define
>>108959223Companies still sell cases with 5.25" drive bays:
>>108962124>The D1 doesn't even have sound damping. That is true, but I actually find the sound profile to be OK. Although, full disclosure, this is only after replacing the stock fans with some Phanteks T30s, and probably also helped by the fact I'm not running any mechanical storage drives.Anyway I was dealing with some major limitations in the scope of planning this upgrade (mostly to do with component compatibility) and among the relatively limited number of viable options the D1 ticked the most boxes. As well, you have the ability to replace the feet with castors, and for me who lives in a dustbowl being able to wheel it freely around for cleaning is insanely handy.
>>108962124>>108961735why not an r7???
>>108967591>Pop AirGot that one and a 5.25" BD-RE mounted in it. One of the last ones before they went fully out of production.
>>108968102I also replaced the fans in the Define R5. It didn't came with PWM controlled fans that are nicer to hit the sweet spot of silent and cool.>>108968127The Define 7 does not have proper 5.25 drive bays. They also only have a mount in the front and none in the back.
I guess there is a growing niche for physical media, maybe significant enough for case companies to tap into. I mean it's a pretty small niche still, but some people are certainly waking up and want ownership over their media again.
>>108962205Not entirely true, but you do have to compromise on memory and storage a little.
>>108967591the fractal focus is a decade old all the ones still for sale are old stock
