The AI's are smart enough to use existing tools and feedback to verify code in exactly the same way humans do with test suites. That's not the case anymore, AI can generate huge swaths of good-enough code. The only technical barrier remaining is compute, which doubles every 18 months and thus is not actually a barrier.
