Having to many color options is a sign of a cheap product. A confident product only gives a few color options and later reintroduces old colors to build hype. It's just a marketing trick.

It also creates a brand identity. Everytime you see that ugly orange color you will know that it is an iPhone.

Yes. You can see the difference in color choice when comparing the base iPhone 17 to the Pro models. The base model has more color options and they range from standard black and white to more playful colors like purple and light blue. The Pro has less color options but they are all really vibrant and stand out from all other iPhones and from every other phone on the market.

The orange color was send to all influencers and is featured in every commercial from apple. Even if some people will choose the blue or silver color because it looks less garish, the very strong image of a bright orange phone is still burned into their mind. When you see that orange phone on a video thumbnail you just want to click it. It has the same function like red circles and arrows.
