So what’s the alternative? Matrix voicechat only seems to work with the element client and irc doesn’t have vc at all
>>108962573day of the average janny must be watching reports while watching seasonal anime sloppa then mommy brings you microwaved hot pockets and low quality beer(not that i would expect high quality food to exist or interest the average janny at walmart)the /v/ mods probably only bans people because they've been distracted from something more interesting than moderating 4kids and they must answer the ban request from jannies else they get banned from being a mod by hiroyuki and their life will stop having any moment if that happensits just sad when you think about it, at least the discord channel must be nice because it means you get discord pings(it also pings your phone because ofc it vibrates your phone too) instead so hiroyuki will be happy to have more efficient mods but the mods will be pissed at getting pinged in the middle of vidya/anime
>>108963407any meaning*
>>108962573reject modernity return to IRC
>>108962573they don't call them discord trannies for nothing.
IRC used to be the job application filter for jannies now they are hiring anyone
I sharply recall before they would ask you a scaring ton of identifying personal data on you, like actual government docs and shit, borderlining into dox. Did they ever scrap that?
>>108962573I use Mumble for VC and Signal for text
>>108963641>>108963726IRC is dead, uncs. FR FR on god. Who uses IRC now a days?Even FOSS software has dropped freenode (remember that?) and it's replacement(s) and gone Discord.I think the biggest thing is that IRC clients don't have persistent sessions and there isn't (wasn't? Haven't checked in ages) an IRC client on mobile compared to Discord/et. al.Though you can technically connect to Discord via IRC (or used to be, not sure if Discord shut that down) so it wouldn't really matter if you were using an IRC client and needed to go to Discord.

>>108963778They just kicked that can down the road due to backlash. They still plan on doing it but it's "TBA" now.
>>108964279IRC was a technical question filter. It wasn't about the communication. The janny who doesn't know how to operate IRC is also a janny who is going to have poor opsec and bad at debugging.
>>108964643IRC is not hard, I setup a bouncer on my old Pentium 4 desktop server running Debian at 14 years old. I figured out from just reading 4chan guides. I was not tech literate back then but it really wasn't hard to do. IRC just fucking sucks. It has shit features, and the people that inhabit it are just the pretentious soillenial version of discord zoomers. Also what does the janny have to debug? I'm pretty sure the only opsec a janny needs is good password and email management. How would IRC teach you about that?
IRC but you host all the servers for free unlimited and there's image support and other stuff and chats are remembered. Also a good theming support so normalfags can have their shitty dark theme fancy colors while refined gentlesirs can use plain HTML like Mr. God intended. That's just the technical infrastructure part, getting the people to move to this is another story. And you'd need to wait for a massive Discord blunder or get endorsed by some big e-celebrity whose audience NEEDS a chatting app.
