It is literally impossible to “own” software, because software is non-tangible. This applies to everyone, companies, individuals, etc. All software is technically open source, no matter what threats say, because IP law is an incoherent metaphysical concept. It is logically impossible to own or steal software, because others have it, and it is not original to you. If you walk in a store and buy a product, that physical object is permanently removed from rotation. If you buy software, or you pirate software, it still exists, it’s still in rotation, so therefore how can one own it if there’s infinite copies? It’s all a lie

This applies to many things. Libertarians famously argue that taxation is theft, and they might have a point. In the end, what matters is who controls the men with guns who can enforce your will.
