0.42.0 when?
I have a noob mpv question. I selected mpv as my default video thingy, but then after it completes playing the video it just closes? How do I set it to loop by default?

Nvdec is broken on gpu-next. What's the next best hw decoder? I'm using vaapi at the moment and I'm not getting any errors.

https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/pull/18065 - [Rust](https://www.rust-lang.org/tools/install) (via `rustup`), required to build mpv's Rust components and the `subrandr` subproject. A **nightly** toolchain is needed, as the build relies on Cargo's unstable `-C` option:>mpv's Rust componentsits over

>>108968364optional rust dependency won't build without rust, genius.mpv will build without subrandr, and I did just that.
mac serf herewhy doesn't this command work? i'm trying to set it to shift+l which is empty--loop-file=inf doesn't work either
>>108968782wrong syntax, --loop-file=inf is for command line, for input conf it isL cycle-values loop-file inf no

>>108968724>dependency"components" are part of mpv and are mandatory, like that PR. "dependencies" like subrandr are not.
>>108968010real progress would be to debloat cplayer from all of this osc bs and have official froontend that has all the coontex menoos they want
>>108969773I'd love to transition actually so that's all the better

>>108965011>pausing is a vital function that is frequently usedso just put it on left click like every other app
>>108972319Referring to yourself in the third person again? No one remembers who you are lil bro
>>108972378Agreed. LMB to pause and RMB for context menu. This is almost universal. LMB click isn't even bound by default. There's probably a reason though... Anyone know that reason?
>>108972505It's always been that way so it must never be changed or improved.
>>108972505In a stacking wm when you click on the window to focus/raise it to the front it pauses the video.
>>108972505It wasn't possible to move window and LMB pause working at the same time until https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/pull/14251

>>108966294Have these schizos (who?) and their hypothetical less experienced users tried using a frontend that adds its own context menu?Celluloid is comfy. It even supports mpv.conf and plugins. I also hear good things about Haruna and SMPlayer. You, too, can have fun without worrying about upstream politics.
why does mpv stay open now after finishing a video it didn't do that before
>>108975110it was changed because vlc users thought the video was being deleted off their computer when the window goes away
>>108975110it was changed after nanahi suggestion, so you can inspect errors on open failure
>>108975128Doesn't show the console on error though, discoverability issue for new users #epicfail
>>108975141Showing errors, was rejected https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/pull/17824
The mpv-cord got one shot by a "lol no gui" post on /g/ ten years ago and has been mind broken ever since, spending 100s of hours trying to hack together a GUI with software made for displaying subtitles.
vim isn't doing enough to accommodate microsoft word users
>>108966294>Yet this "hamburger menu" designed for keyboard input has a dedicated UI element space in OSC, yet the "context menu" designed for mouse input doesn't have any. Wouldn't it make more sense that the "hamburger menu" in OSC opens the menu designed for mouse input, while the menu designed for keyboard input is bound to a key instead?based nanahi. literally has the correct take every single time.
>>108975256You can use https://github.com/skywind3000/vim-quickui for context menu
>>108975402Show me single software that has dedicated button for context menu.
>>108975412mpv already has "chapters" in the hamburger menu, which is context dependent but not video track or audio for arbitrary reasons? And half the options on the context menu aren't even context dependent.Anyway, what makes a context menu useful is it changes depending on what you click on. Compare it to a typical desktop environment where you need different menu options when you click on the desktop, or an icon, or the taskbar. With mpv it doesn't matter where you click. Having a button achieves the exact same goal.
>>108975501>video track or audio for arbitrary reasonsOh I realized it's because they are on the osc, so the keyboard menu for keyboard users doesn't have the options because you're supposed to click the osc icons instead. Makes sense.
>>108975553ask guido, you can always open track selection with g-t, g-a, g-v
>>108975501>it doesn't matter where you click. Having a button achieves the exact same goal.that's valid point, the only difference is that it pops up near your pointer
