Is it finally over for Intel and AMD
>>
x86sisters, what are we going to do?
>>
>Intel
>AMD
>Linux
>MacOS
BTFO forever.
>>
Nvidia won, there is no denying it
>>

Point and laugh.
>>
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Nvidia-RTX-Spark-laptop-prices-tipped-Surface-Laptop-Ultra-Dell-XPS-16-to-rival-MacBook-Pro.1313708.0.html
>According to the info, laptops (and presumably PCs) equipped with the N1x chip could carry a price tag of at least $2,899, while entry-level N1 models may start at $1,799, which points to potential MacBook Pro price territory.
>These estimates likely relate to base SKUs featuring closer to 16/32GB of RAM and 512/1TB of storage rather than a model with 128GB of RAM and a 4TB SSD.
kek, this shit is dead on arrival.
>>
>>108969331
this is giving "we released some useless halo product to make stock prices go LE UP" vibes
>>
surely everyone wants windows on arm so the intel/amd monopoly is broken?
>>
explain to a layman how that is now significantly better than previous Windows ARM laptops? to my understanding, the main problem so far was that Windows programs simply weren't all designed for ARM and emulation eats up performance? enlighten a noob.
>>
for era to be here needed all 4 requirements:
1. Cheap
2. Powerfull and power efficient
3. Open and Linux compatible
4. no annoyance with translation layers for x86 soft (gaben did if for gaming already)

I think it passes none
>>
we are this close to closed firmware on all modrrn hardware
>>
>>108969385
entrenched monopolies with x86 led to windows being mostly an x86 platform and apps being made and optimized for it
now that x86 is going to be killed we get apps optimized for arm, which is fantastic news
you can have nvidia, chinese cpu makers contribute to the windows pc market that was previously closed off by x86 licenses that were impossible to get
>>
>>108969454
Companies still have to pay Arm to use their instruction sets, and arm chips don't have the standardization of x86 that let you install other OS with ease.
>>
Yeah this shit isn't going anywhere if it isn't really competitive in price
>>
>>108969454
Jensen is running out of things to yap about on stage so he releases DoA garbage to save face.
Please clap.
>>
>>108969400
that's the real spooky thing. I hate it
>>
>>108969352
>intel/amd monopoly
You don't seem to understand what the word monopoly means. Also how fucking young and stupid are you? Qualcomm, Apple, and ARM already exist and have a far larger market share than these e-waste AI machines from NVIDIA ever will achieve.
>>
>>108969241
>No software
DoA

What's with the tumor thingy on the lenovo
>>

I'll stick with my Ryzen, thanks tho.

Microsoft Windows is in, rest will follow suit

>>108969454
So the big selling point is that ching chongs are now positions to make dogshit.

Yeh ill pass
>>
>>108972824
Microsoft Windows for ARM, you disingenuous fuck.
>>
>>108969241
Because Microsoft won't fuck up Windows on Arm a fourth time, right guys?
Not only will this be the most expensive run with the least battery life yet, but everyone seemingly forgot that Microslop didn't even ship and SDK to software devs until months before release, and it wound up being the wrong fucking SDK, so for the first month of Qualcomm laptops being out, devs were crunching to re-tool and recompile their software while customers returned their Windows on Arm devices in droves.
Microsoft doesn't give a shit about developers or the end user, what makes you think things will change this time, especially on devices guaranteed to cost $3k+?
The best possible outcome is this becomes the final nail in ruining Nvidia's consumer market reputation for good.
>>
>>108973027
Users have a web browser, Office, and all of their web browser-based apps (Discord, etc.). Windows on Arm is completely usable by normalfags now.
>ruining Nvidia's consumer market reputation
I don't think they care too much about that.
>>
>>108969454
so there will be more manufacturers and options (chinese) instead of less?

and some faganon was talking about what a huge powergrab jensen was doing calling in the government to kill him. fuck that piece of shit anon
>>
will these things gen video goodly?
>>
>>108969241
Nvidia and microsoft are worth more than any other country on the planet with their combined wealth, if they ate losses in the billions on this project to get people using it they could start a dystopian nightmare overnight.
Don't get me wrong Nvidia alone making an SoC that becomes the standard is a dystopia but both of them combining to eternally lock out all competition forever is truly nightmarish.
I pray China get their shit together in the CPU/GPU space, the technological freedom of humanity might depend on it sooner rather than later.
>>
>>108973263
A 5090 would be better
>>
>>108969511
>arm chips don't have the standardization of x86 that let you install other OS with ease
So it's over for Linux?
>>
first they locked down our smartphones to protect us like if we're kusoghis and the state mafia is wants to kill us. fucking plebs went with it.
now they go for our computers. Faggot Gaytes should had an heroed on that fucking island

>>108971901
>Ryzen
At that price one could get a top of the line Threadripper or an older Epyc
>>
>>108969454
>x86 licenses that were impossible to get
They can't have been that expensive if some random ass Russian lab got one. It's more likely that nobody really cared enough to put down billions on R&D for a platform whose market is plenty saturated.

>So it's over for Linux?
No, because Ngreedia made sure that Loonix runs on their shit. It's already confirmed.
"NVIDIA's Computex keynote around the RTX Spark was heavily promoting RTX Spark with Microsoft Windows 11. But, fear not, the NVIDIA RTX Spark will still work great on Linux."

The Phoronix (Linux News Site) dude got a Spark from Jensen personally.
>>
>>108973712
This would require market demand from the Linux user base, which there is none, especially for 6x the price of alternative options.
>>
>>108969251
These laptops are gonna cost $5,000 minimum.
They're not going to be a threat to traditional computers and laptops for at least a decade.
>>
>>108971809
>What does the word monopoly mean?
mono as in one, single
duo as in two, pair
Using these examples can you figure out where you went wrong?
>>
>>108974545
Theres a ProArt SKU with a cutdown N1 and limited RAM that starts at $2800~ US
>>
>>108969400
yes, masons will push that 100%
>>
>>108974962
If by masons you mean American oligarchs like Musk, Thiel, Bannon and Trumpy then yes.

Also there's no reason to buy new laptops or PC's. Just buy used hardware and put Linux on it, that's it. Tech peaked and AI is unnecessary and worthless, and even an i3 CPU is viable.
>>
>>108973148
Nope, it still a single factory making chips for google, amd, intel, nvidia, apple etc.

You can try to compete with older tech, but you'll never get the computing power/watts of newer chips.
>>
>>108969454
Linux does not have this problem. It runs on motherfucking ppc64.
