Weirding modules was an invention for the David Lynch movie, as a weaponization of the bene gesserit voices. Originally they just used bene gesserit kung fu which made them throw punches at Dragon Ball speeds.

movies and books are different media that have different strengths and weaknesses
100% faithful adaptations of books rarely if ever make good mobies
for instance, the scene between the emperor and guildsman at the beginning never happened in the books, but it helped set up the world without the preceding exposition drop and is one of the most memorable scenes in the film
i love dune, but couldn't pay attention to DUNC for the life of me, it was so sterile and the casting was awful

i actually watched the movie in the theater i was absolutely stunned by that emperor guildsman scene, the black trenchcoat like costume, the oversize mic translator and threatening to put the emperor in a pain amplifier, all of it burned itself onto my cortex like the porkys shower scene.
ig ur right about movies and books requiring different storytelling methods, will just have to chalk up all the artistic license to lynch's brilliance
