Solved technology made complicated. The Manger was the perfect daily toolset, and it was discontinued. Now you have a bunch of aftermarket scales, mainly for the Rambler, to add the pen as well as the ability to keep more tools in the scales. Getting a Rambler with scales that have a pen, as well as slots for the toothpick, tweezers and the needle, would get you the ideal set for a keychain lifesaver.Too bad Victorinox refuses to release that as a dedicated product though, so you have to mod a Rambler yourself!

>>108974469It's a pretty good tool. I also got a set of Galvanox flat bits, as well as a bit extender with a ratchet driver to get more utility out of it. The plan is to have a pouch stuffed with genuinely useful tools like this to have a mini-toolkit to bag or belt carry. I already managed to put together an entire bed with the Surge and a Cobra XS so, y'know, it's not that dumb of an idea, these do work and come in useful.

The only downside is the brutally quiet beeper, but I've heard that the (more expensive) all-steel Made in Japan equivalent, GW-5000U, doesn't have that problem and the piezo resonates much better on that. I might get one at some point maybe.
Fun fact: one of personal G-Shock's of Kikuo Ibe, the initiator and de-facto inventor of the G-Shock, is a GW-M5600, which is the original variant of the GW-M5610U.The first model had Multi Band 5, which didn't have the ability to receive the Chinese time signal. GW-M5610 updated it to Multi Band 6 with that functionality, and the GW-M5610U is a modern sidegrade, doing some useful QoL improvements in the watch's UI while ditching the old EL backlight for a white LED. On one hand it no longer has the same aesthetic, but on the other the LED won't burn out like EL and it does it's job just fine, it fully illuminates the face unlike the F-91W LED.And yes I am more than aware that the inventor of the G-Shock looks like a gook from a WW2 propaganda poster.

>>108974688The 10 meter fall is just a measure of how shock resistant it is, the idea isnt that you are supposed to fall of a ladder. My cheap G-shock has been crawling over stone and smacked against metal a ton during exercises (with face down) and no issues, a few scratches on the glass

I've only seen it happen on one that belonged to my grandfather so I don't even know how old it was but several decades anyway. The two that I use are still just fine.
