Has anyone used this piece of tech? If so, what do you think of it?

It's neat, I like M5stack stuff>cheap>very easy to prototype, does micropython and scratch out of the box>you kinda need scratch for modules because documentation is blah>good connectivity>good build quality>screen is nice and bright>surprisingly good speaker and MEMS microphone>decent battery life (but ESP32 is very power hungry if you make no effort to manage it)>tiny button keys are annoying, I prefer LilyGo stuff in that respect obviously you are not gonna do any serious typing on this thing or even casual messaging>that said you can run a python repl on this thing which is kinda wild>come on its 50 fucking dollarinosIf you just want to get your feet wet with ESP32 then the m5stick is only half the price, has a little screen and 3 buttons and an IMU. They also have a stopwatch type thing which has a touch screen but you will probably not get much battery life.imho their best product is the tab 5 which like a chunky smartphone size and takes a big sony style vido camera battery, the advantage being that you can get these anywhere, this disadvantage being that it's a chunky boi. That has a plugin keyboard available for an extra $12, but the real win of the Tab5 is that is has an ESP32-P4 which is a RISC-V chip with 16mb flash memory and 32mb PSRAM, which is much heftier than most of their other CPUs. The tab5 has a second ESP32-c6 chip that just does the wifi/blutooth etc., so you do not have to worry about load balancing network stuff with your application design. It also has a connector for an external antenna so if your interest is 733T H4X0R stuff then it's an all around more useful tool.M5stack has a ggood relationship with expressif so they are ofte first to get new chips out to market. I don't do anything really important with my m5stack toys but they're fun and easy to program and generally comfy.
>>108973915What do you actually use these for? They're cool, but I can't imagine they'd be practical for anything?
