My game (not done yet)
But in general no, because it's mainly used by "indie devs" aka game jam obsessed retrobaiters

Indie games are so bad and gay by the way

lol no, of course not. People who actually want to create something worthwhile don't waste their time with shit like this. Only contrarian hobbyists do.
>>
>>108975338
There's plenty of interesting indie games, there's just a ton of trash too because the bar to entry is low
>>

Here's the thing, everything you fags claim is interesting is just another shallow game jam entry with a stupid gimmick.

Not really, it really is more like a learning tool. Raylib's creator is not even a real dev, I believe he's a professor or something like that. So he made the library to be used for classes. He's not good at writing or understanding code.
There is no reason to use raylib when SDL exists and does everything much better with more control over things. Every real project just uses SDL.
>>
>>108977339
SDL can't do 3D. SDL < 3 can't even do shaders which means that things like repeating textures is still faster on raylib despite it being only a wrapper.

And SDL3 is not supported nearly as much as SDL2 or OpenGL2
>>
>>108977350
Are you dumb or just pretending? Or are you an LLM bot hallucinating stuff? The entire point of SDL is to abstract away the boring windowing and input stuff. You can still use OpenGL or Vulkan or your preferred graphics API, you always could, even in SDL2. SDL2 had shitty drawing APIs, supposedly SDL3 has better ones but it really doesn't matter when any serious program ever will use the graphics APIs directly instead. That means writing your own shaders and whatever.

>>108977350
>SDL3 is not supported nearly as much
Fake news. Stop making shit up. It's just a library, you can ship it however and wherever you want. SDL2 is completely fine still but for newer stuff SDL3 is better just for the cleaner APIs.
>>
>>108977409
No, the point of SDL and raylib is to abstract graphics, audio and fonts so that it can be used cross platform without using opengl or vulkan.
Did you know SDL2 can export to the 3DS? Can your Vulkan do that? No. But SDL can, if you use it's graphics

>Indie games are so bad and gay by the way
AAA are far far worse
AAAA are the worst ever and devels should be beheaded asap in minecraft in France
>>
>>108977416
No that's just laziness or searching for the perfect abstraction that doesn't and can't exist in reality. No serious commercial game would do something like that. You need as much control as possible over the graphics, especially on consoles. And that's an old console anyway so basically only hobby projects.
>>
>>108977496
>nooo you can't just use abstractions.

it has its render api but few real games use it, it's quite portable but you'd have to target it and you are limited to 2d & no shaders
>>
SDL3 3.4.0 now provides support for shaders in the scope of its 2D SDL_Renderer API.

For actual 3D graphics, SDL3 also comes with its SDL_GPU rhi abstraction, which wraps Vulkan, Direct3D and Metal. The API is pretty similar to wgpu, and I quite like it so far for my game engine.
>>
>>108977693
Exactly, SDL2 is more portable than any other graphics library except perhaps OpenGL 1.1 and below
>>
>>108977409
>You can still use OpenGL or Vulkan or your preferred graphics API, you always could, even in SDL2
The point of raylib is that you can use raylibs simple api for that. Raylib can also do things like load 3d models and display freetype fonts, all without any external libraries.
