Reading? I hope the newer backlit version doesn't have dogshit battery life, it looks like they're switching away from the ESP32 which worked fantastically due to its low power consumption, but now they're removing the buttons and shoving in a touchscreen to make it harder to use. If it gets the same level of CFW support it'll be the best e-reader out there, but that's a big if.

There are a lot of android e-readers these days, they're all fucking atrocious because android is a very performance intensive system and it guzzles batteries. They're worthless.With the new X4 they're at least staying with a custom OS, but I don't think I can overstate how poor the touch screen experience is on e-readers. The first X4 just doesn't have a touch screen. You can't accidentally trigger a page turn when you pick the thing up, which is possible with basically everything else on the market. I don't know why they keep forcing this shit on users. It makes the screen look worse, because you need a touch layer in the stack. They run like shit, because you're always second guessing if you actually tapped and the device is just laggy, or it didn't actually register and you're just waiting like an idiot for 5 seconds. At least they kept the side page turn buttons, if they ditched those too I wouldn't buy it.

I like owning physical books, its funny cause I couldn't care less about owning a physical videogames but for books it makes a world of difference.
