Why won't Apple redesign the Magic Mouse?
>>108977234my designer coworker is using this mouse and I tried it once, the only good usage for it was Figma because you can swipe through the canvas real quick, other than that it's shit.
litmus test, iq test, etc
>>108977270do you fail the iq test just by buying it?
>>108977234because it's already perfect
>>108977311it looks like a dead bug when it's charging
>>108977283You fail the IQ test by complaining about it because it lasts 500 hours and takes 2 minutes to recharge it for the entire day.You literally have to be a mouth drooling, brain dead fucking moron if you feel the need to constantly have that mouse plugged in.
>>108977382>because it lasts 500 hours and takes 2 minutes to rechargeSo like every other wireless mouse that is not bottom of the barrel chinkshit?
>>108977385>So like every other wireless mouse that is not bottom of the barrel chinkshit? What point are you even trying to make if this an industry standard? Are you that mentally stunted and buckbroken that you have to make things up to complain about?
>>108977385
i got one and thought i would like it but honestly its the ergonomics of it, i just dont seem to handle the really slim profile of it welli think if it was a taller/larger mouse shape but with the same feature set i would like it a lot morebut for now it sits in my laptop bag and hasnt left it in a few months
>>108977234This is the best pointing device. Changemymind.
>>108977234not a real problem.you need to only charge the mouse once every few months and you can do that overnight.
>>108977234Because they'd had to admit they were wrong, and Apple execs would rather take a belt sander to their balls than do anything that would even distantly resemble admitting fault
>>108977234They’re working on one, allegedly. It’s gonna probably be called “Magic Mouse Ultra” and coincide with the MacBook Ultra release.
>>108977234>Why won't Apple redesign the Magic Mouse?I'll take the bait.First, you recharge it so rarely that it's irrelevant how awkward it is.Though I feel like the magic trackpad ended up being superior in all ways. Thought I'd hate it, but for anything that's not gaming it's just really comfy.
>>108977234Because they use the trackpad now (seriously, try those on their OS, it feels eerily natural) and secondly their shitty ass mouse is still the only one that only needs a recharge every week for like 15 minutes. Now compared to my R*zer Cobra wireless mouse it needs at least one recharge a day, sometimes two and takes up to 40 minutes each which is why it is essential to be able to use while charging. It would be a better design for the Apple mouse but seriously, that 15 minutes a week of extra break is not exactly a problem. And that touch surface on it makes editing a breeze.
>>108977234The entire mouse experience on macOS is pretty dreadful. You have to install a third party application that abuses accessibility APIs and listens on every scroll just so you the scrolling experience you expect for both trackpads and scroll wheels. This could so easily be an option in the OS, even some obscure setting in a .plist somewhere.
>>108977234Because fuck you that's why. Now pay up and buy our next product.
>Hurrdurr mouse with more than one button would overwhelm common users with options - Jobs>Whoo genius! - iToddler.
>>108977382good morning sir
>>108978003You are holding it wrong. I have no issues at all with the scrolling on both the mouse and their trackpad whatsoever. It feels so natural I try to set them up similarly on both my Linux and Windows desktops. Needless to say the Windows settings suck ass, I'm glad I only have to boot it up like twice every month or so.
>>108977395The thing is that you can actually use the other mice while they're charging
>>108978103You have to, those other mice don't hold a charge worth a fuck. This one you can use for weeks without needing to recharge.
>>108977311heh
>>108977234They did previous time, can't you see it was a bad idea? You cannot trust Apple with design, clearly.
I rarely use the mouse, I charge it once a month. the track pad is superior in every way but vidyausually with an inferior product, apple will lose more than it will gain by redesigning the little mouse, cause everyone already has one
>>108978234don't your fingers get sore with the trackpad?
>>108977458
>>108977458>166hz refresh rate
>>108977234>Why won't Apple redesign the Magic Mouse?Because their core audience doesn't see anything wrong with it.
>>108977234first gen magic mouse doesn't have this problem
>>108977382You literally have to be a mouth drooling, brain dead fucking moron if you don't understand that the connector could have been implemented in a way to be able to keep using the mouse for the 2 minutes.
>>108977234Because it's a Steve Jobs thing. Everyone at apple knows people hate their fucking mice, always have. First thing you do when you buy an apple desktop is buy a third party mouse. They're still afraid of his spoopy goast.
>>108977458https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pso6UvuN8bYIf you can't do this, it's not a good pointing device.
>>108978003magic mouse doesn't need any 3rd party software to have smooth scrolling, your shitty PC mouse is designed to send scrollUp and scrollDown events without acceleration, velocity or anything else.btw windows has exactly same choppy mouse scrolling but you don't complain about it
>>108978506>gamesyou have to be 18+ to post in here
>>108978553It's not the choppy scrolling, that's absolutely fine and I prefer it over smooth, aka delayed scrolling because it's precise. It's the direction that's wrong. If you select "natural scrolling", scrolling is right for touchpads, but wrong for mouses. If you deselect it, that just flips. If you want it to be correct for both, you need a program to listen for input events and then flip that switch for you depending on whether it was a mouse or a touchpad. That's fucking retarded.
>>108978586>wrongit's notsounds like a windows babyduck issue
>>108978662>Users moves finger on wheel downwards>Top of the wheel moves downwards>Bottom of the wheel moves "upwards">Sheet underneath moves upwards (which means your viewport is moving down)That's natural. Apple's "natural" scrolling isn't.
>>108978736>no i refuse to learn to move my finger in a different way, i'd rather install a bunch of 3rd party apps to change the scroll direction and blame Apple for this
>>108978788>Apple is wonderful. Everything Apple does is perfect. Everyone else is doing it wrong. There's a prayer niche in my home that points to the direction of Apple Headquarters and I pray there 30 times a day. I have to punish myself it's any less than that. Users getting to decide how they want to use their own computers terrifies and upsets me. Why, if Apple, the most divine, perfect entity, has already decided what the flawless way is?!It's such an easy option to have those options separate. It's clearly a common enough complaint given how many third party applications there are for this shit.
>>108977234Supposedly because the hardware designers really really don’t want users to leave the mouse constantly plugged in, which is what would happen if it were possible to plug in from the side
>>108978490it took you 3 hours to reply to that post
>>108977234iTODDLERS BTFO
>>108978283no, I alternate between both hands and use it shortcuts, navigating different windows via trackpad is the smoothest out of any OS
>>108977382>500 hoursMy Logitech mouse lasts months on a single AA battery.
>>108978568I could be your father.
>>108977234why change something that still sells ?
>>108977382marge, sanjay broke containment again
>>108977234Because the picrel is simply intentional, Apple cares about the vibe their products project to people around the user. Specifically in this case, they want to project a vibe of a wireless device and they absolutely do not want anyone to use it wired, which is they the charge port is there.Same thing with Mac mini, why do you think the power on button is on the bottom, requiring you to lift it up? It's because they want you to put the Mac into sleep instead and to never shut it down completely.
>>108977262Figma balls
>>108978736Apple is so fucking deranged by their "think different" motto, they're constantly fixing what isn't broken. When iPhone first came out, every single phone had "answer call" on the left and "end call" on the right, which was natural for right-handed people since your thumb would extend across the phone to the "answer call" button when holding it. But for some retarded reason Apple switched the order of these buttons so people who first got an iPhone would either instinctively decline the incoming call or have to stop, retract their thumb in an awkward way and press the icon on the right side of the phone while holding it with their right hand. Genuinely braindead company.
>>108980307not everybody on the planet is right-handed so it made sense
>>108980335>it makes sense to randomly change convention for 10% of the populationMakes sense for a fag company I guess.
Because that way you have to buy two of them. One for usage one for charging.
>>108980142>you need to press the button on a Mac to shut it downIs it really that backwards?
