>>108980227They fucked up in their pricing model by not making the $5 option have unlimited searches. $10 a month is too much.
>>108980234I told you anon idk if I should buy a subscription or I hate SaaS dont get me wrong
>>108980227>Also Small Web is SOVLthe small web is dogshit, man.this is up there with "mom and pop businesses" arguments. the reason theyre dying is because theyre dogshit. they have worse service, worse everything.i never know what to say to people who complain about google search. like, uuh, it works... really well? ive never had an issue with it. the "its gotten soo much worse" crowd - ok, fine, but i cant relate. it works as well as it always has, which is to say, really well. nowadays the ai summary often short circuits whatever question i had anyway, and if i really care about it so much, i'll click on the source link it provides.its very romantic to think of the internet "community". but what you need to understand is the average person is actually quite repulsive. the average person is a tatted up tv zombie. do you actually want to hang out with your peers? i sure dont.give me the hypercompetitive billionaire, give me the datacentre farms, give me shit that actually works and is built by people at the top of their game.i dont want mediocrity. i have a hard enough time getting away from it as it is. its always so funny when one of these "small web" blogs go viral somewhere and *like clockwork* are immediately overwhelmed and the server crashes. like holy shit are we in '95!?, cloudflare static hosting is FREE!clowns...
>>108980262Stop phrasing your ad threads as ad threads, and ask your manager to pay for remedial spelling lessons.
>>108980262it's SaaSSservice as a software substitute.meaning instead of using software conventionally (you on a PC, using the software), functionality is provided as a service (you being able to access their hardware). the case of a "normal" piece of software being offered remotely and running on their servers so you access it like your browser is a terminal is a special case of SaaSS, which can be reasonably called "software as a service", it's still confusing things though.
I used kagi for a year but now i just run sear xng as self host. Kagi is great but most of my info comes from AI now, so i cant justify the price
>>108982311>i never know what to say to people who complain about google search. like, uuh, it works... really well? It had gotten worse, but that isn't anything Google did to it. It's the proliferation of highly SEO'd sites with really low quality content spamming up the results. This is what led people to append "reddit" to searches for things like reviews of home appliances, but now the spammers have realized they can use AI agents to fill Reddit with the same drivel.
>>108980227It's very useful, but it's just another bandage on top of the shithole that is the clearnet.>>108982404There was a former google exec who went into detail about why google search got so awful (and in my opinion, why everyone uses ai now instead) and it was google's fault. I don't feel like finding the article and linking it.
>>108980262No. All of these things are free. There's even a search engine for the "small web" - wiby.meAlso you don't have a sovl if you think AI is enticing.
I really hate their pricing model where unused searches that you paid for expires the following month

>>108980258Linux said if you get the year long family plan that drops by a considerable margin (if every user pays)
>>108980227I'm happy with it, especially the Privacy Pass feature.
>>108980227Take the leap, tools like this are honestly the perfect use case for AI. Completely changes the way you use the Internet.>>108980234I'm not OP but I'm pretty sure this thread is not an attempt to advertise any service; just someone looking for advice.
Are you really too poor and too lazy to pay for it for a couple of months and then cancel? It's good to support ideas like this, but I'm not doing, so why don't you do it and tell us how it is?
