Most people just use their phones or at most laptops as email and browser machines already.Gamers who love AAA goyslop and "need" the most performant hardware available may suffer to go without. I am more than content with some cheap servers and a $500 mid-range laptop for 99% of what I do, and I would consider myself a tech enthusiast. Honestly most of the doom surrounding computing power ownership seems to stem from enjoying an unprecedented superabundance for so long.
