>>108990674i've had the idea of writing a GUI file manager that has functionality similar to ranger/vifm/lf/yazi for a while now, just have not acted on it cuz i've become incrementally comfy on vifm (almost all my keybinds are a mixture of ranger and vim), i just wish it had the capability to write the whole config in lua so i could have my keybinds set like in neovim with a {desc = "description"} field to the table.but back on track, i've been thinking of writing a "ranger but GUI" file manager, just not sure which UI toolkit to go with, i'd be inclined to do GTK3 but there's no telling when gnome is gonna kill gtk3 with a "x11 is dead boiling in shit down in sheol besides jesus" from the hand of IBM+RedHat to try and force everyone into wayland or fork GTK3, QT i don't like due to how KDE centric the QT stack feels at times, ideally i'd want something that renders with Cairo so that x11 support cannot be dropped behind user's backs and is widely available on the unix-like world cuz i do not care about microshaft pajeetblows.

>>108990918yeh, i know, i've considered the idea of building a GUI toolkit on top of raw Cairo but it is such a fucking drag even with an AI slave to digitally whip into doing some of the code before i gotta correct it by hand it comes out as a drag... then again i could just take the python pill like the author and maintainers of ranger did and use pycairo to essentially build GUI ranger... on the other hand searching i just found out that fltk is a thing that exists and seems to be on most standar distro repos, ought to wonder if it is ack-chully good
