>browse for new fiber deals in my area>the robot keeps track>I start getting deals in the mail >get one from Vodafone >"My guy, screw fiber get 5G hone internet cheaper"Being an autistic power user, I assume it's not for me since it seems that it doesn't involve any cables or access to the fiber line.Is it purely WiFi tech?
That's too much small text at the bottom to be trustworthy on any account.I'd wager it's basically just cell tower-tier shit.
>>108990813It's basically a permanent tether device using the cell network.
It's a flawed because it doesn't mention air resistance which will cause slow downs on download speed.
>>108990843It says something along the lines"Your 5G will run at 5G speed at best, mostly you will get cellphone 4G speeds instead". Kek.
>>108990813look at how many british dollars you pay per mbps of fiber versus those 5g plans. i think fiber is cheaper for the speed you get
>>108990813If we get to the root of this, it's a scam. It's not a landline but a fixed 5G antenna. You should never get get a wireless internet anyway because of congestion and dropouts. Don't look at the max speed they advertise, but the minimum speed. Wireless minimum speed is extremely low
>wireless internetLmao. The sad thing is that the only way you can get a decent internet connection in the UK is either having to call a jeet every fucking year to cancel so you can open a new account in someone else's name for a "new customer" deal, or actually live in poverty and get an "essential broadband" contract where you get dogshit speeds but at least the price doesn't rise every year.
>>108990920But you can't take fiber with you.I went all in for 5g plan
>>108991130i'd rather get something like starlink if i care about the mobility. your plan will only work if a tower for your provider is in the area
>>108991140Since I'm not living in a third world country like America, 5g towers are plenty here in nazi Germany.
>>108991029OP here. I can't get a good deal anymore for renewing my contract.Somehow the ISps don't care anymore if you stay or go and won't go low on deals.I will have to switch to another ISP next month and every 2 years back and forth.
if you are not playing online gayme it really doesn't matter5G is good enough for most people. Though torrenting might be an issue if there's a cap. They usually do
>>108991330Yeah, I gave up on that years ago. Back when I was still doing that bullshit you had to hope the jeet you called had the basic brainpower required to schedule your new install for the day after your old connection got shut off, or you'd lose internet for up to a week.Fun stuff, I love getting fucked in the ass by corpos who are now able to put the price up legally every year. Best deal I ever had was BT price rising me 6 months into a contract so they literally paid me to use their service for 6 months after I cancelled it because the cashback had already gone through.
>>1089908135g is slop and you must hope it's not crowded
Mobile broadband only makes sense in urban areas in one specific scenario: You're somewhat nomadic.I ran off 3G mobile broadband mebbe 10 years ago in a little apartment in the city. Why? I was on a 6 month lease, and all the broadband providers demanded a 12-months commitments. That little 3G dongle did god's fucking work for me in that period, but I had to compromise on stuff like gaming, youtube usage, and serving things from my home network. If you're urban and not in that very specific situation, fixed fiber is the way to go, always. Fuck Starlink, fuck Vodafone, get a fixed line and reap the shit out of the benefits.
>>108991029It always makes me laugh how companies treat loyal customers as literal cucks.
>>108991493Hey, it's not like the government will do anything to stop them. Some grandma paying 82 million a month for a 10mbit line and a TV package she doesn't use is probably subsidising all the "great" introductory deals they can offer.
Look for altnets in your area, most are doing gigabit for £30 or less.
>>108991362How do I avoid being left without internet or paying almost double one month to overlap the change? They don't let me choose a day to bring the technician?Should I just pay up the inflated price just for peace of mind?
>>108991620You don't, lol. They'll let you pick a day, but the start will always be a solid week after your old service ends if you're with the same provider. You have more luck with a different one, depending on the network and how the connection is established, shit like virgin vs openreach. You can pay the inflated price, but it'll keep going up every year. If you're lucky you might be able to call up and cancel and then get a call back from them offering you a better deal, but if you're not a grandma they're more likely to take a look at your usage and decide against it if you're actively using the connection, they don't want power users.I did this shit for a decade, it was like pulling teeth every fucking year. Had one year where they just straight up cut my internet off and cancelled the new contract too, that was fun.
>>108991685I have Virgin but I am forced to go to Hyperoptic for the next contract. I've used them before..
>>108991029Sounds just like germany
>>1089908135G is ok for normies but it is unreliable and has very high ping.
>>108990813Imagbine being poor and not buying the most expensive internet in your area with the highest bandwidth and lowest latency, God, that just sounds absolutely horrible in 2026.Every time I see one of those ads for 5G home internet I wonder, who the fuck is stupid enough to actually buy this? Even my grandmother who is 85, was like, no. But she was in telecom her whole life.I guess poor brown people who don't know any better buy this shit.
>>108990813>Vodafone>5G>not even as a fallback just straight up 5GSuicide is preferable to relying on VF.
