Heard someone was building a chud alternative to github, called GitChud.

Hows the project going?

Where are we at in development?

How can I contribute?

Would a $10,000 investment git this off the ground or not enough?

Also link to /g/'s AI? (A/g/I) ? Chat/g/pt? /g/rok? /g/thropic?
>>
If only there were some sort of alternative to Github. Too bad nobody has come up with another git website.

We already have this.

I thought thats what this is? Why doesnt someone team up with catbox for the infeastructure and noterity to make GitChud.moe ? Theres open sourced software for running a similar repo. It wont have any of the glossy features. Just useruploads git project and users can download and modify them with whatever api permissions.

Why would you use a git service hosted by a single individual that isnt you? At this point just self host forego or whatever those self host options are. The whole appeal of the big players is you are paying peanuts or nothing and they are storing everything on expensive managed and replicated databases that would cost you tens/hundreds/thousands to do just for yourself

> Why would I?
Its for all chuds, not just me.

Catbox is free somehow, and it hosts files, i believe they could expand and include additional needed stuff for a git repo, instead of starting from scratch.

I don't even know why people bother with these giant remotes with http frontends for self-hosting.
You can literally use ssh as a remote to a random directory. You don't even need to use git as the user.

Why the fuck don't you just self-host a Gitlab instance like a normal person?
>>
>>108995887
Why would you want to build and maintain all that, just to be able to build and maintain whatever it is you actually want to share and work on with others?
>>
>>108996013
I don't know you're the one who wants to make GitChud that seems like way more work.
>>
>>108996031
I dont have any code to share, but I see the utility. No one on /g/ wishes to share and dev code with anyone else on here? Odd.

Which git repos allow +NIGGER licenses and COCs that exclude trannies?
>>
>>108996137
GitChud.moe will.
>>
>>108996052
Just use the official Gitlab then.

Something a little ironic about signing into gitlab using github? Think I should develop GitChud on gitlab using github to sign up?

Just self-host GitLab, or Gitea, or Forgejo, or whatever other forge there is

while it is easy, the important thing to keep in mind is the data resiliency. git repos are simple i agree. but if Microshit is willing you host your code on a cloud provider with guarantees on the resiliency of your repo then there is really no point in doing it yourself other than aome weird privacy venture. For as much as github has shit the bed the last few months, they have yet to fuck with my repo or lose any data of mine

you don't have to do anything, retard. not even "hosting". radicale exists. so all you actually need to do is "seed", like you would seed any torrent.
>>
>>108996263
you should start with an SVN repo on sourceforge, with automated syncing to github, which travis syncs to gitlab via an empty CI process

sneed

so someone actually made the logo this time

github *is* the chud alternative, anon
