>decide to actually learn cybersecurity

>realize company higher ups are either full blown retards or simply hiding how everything is fucked

Is this normal? Is this how I know I'm actually learning?

They got there cause they can bullshit really good. Truth does not sell, good stories do.

Security is compliance theater so when you get sued you can tell them to fuck off cause you paid for a bunch of checkboxes
There are zero negatives to getting pwned and leaking every scrap of data about your customers. Nobody at all cares a single whit

Came to the same conclusion myself.
For a long time at my job I was conducting tests on Linux test VM, using a vmware NAT adapter to route to it from my host.
And all of a sudden nothing worked. I reached out to my IT helpdesk (huge defense contractor btw) and was told that 1) non-routable IPs would not work because of security issues, and 2) I am not authorized to use Linux because it's not a supported OS
But Windows 11, from the company for which there are documented cases of refusal to acknowledge critical security vulnerabilities, is A-OK because they are a "trusted vendor"

OP here

Are cyber attacks still that complex and getting even more advanced or are they mostly jeet attacks?
