Mom got so annoyed with YouTube ads she made me install Revanced for her.
Imagine being so goddamn cancerous it makes a GenX church lady say "fuck this".
Have you been spreading the good word of AdBlock to the people in your life?
>>
How did she even know she had the option to simply NOT ALLOW ads to display on her phone?
That's the real barrier to adoption, normies generally don't even know what's available to them.

In reality, your mother is a shameless whore, always has been, and always will be.

I stopped trying to recommend tech to boomers. They just do not care. Even though they see more ads than actual website, I found that they nod their head in agreement, but ultimately do not care. It's weird. Maybe apathy just happens as you age.
>>
Did you not train your mom since childhood?
My mom can block an advertisement, are ya kidding me?

wait until it inevitably breaks (as google keeps changing stuff on their end) and they'll either ridicule you and imply you did it wrong, or they'll demand you fix it for them
>>
>>109011825
already did break once and twice and i fixed it for them :)

Just use Brave, zoom-zoom. t. GenX

Yeah years of telling her it was an option finally paid off.
Still working on my dad.
>>109011528
Yes anon we're all old now. She had me at 21 and I'm on the bad side of 30 already.
Can we not do this WAH TIME PASSES thing every goddamn thread?
>>
>>109012323
I do.
My family won't.
>>109011803
What makes it better?
>Gramps, what are you doing on 4chinz?
Young people are making Suno songs on Instagram.

I tried but my dads too retarded to use TizenTube/SmarTube...
I installed both of these and showed how they work, but for some reason he defaults to the YouTube app and then complain about many ads it's showing

>>109011739
Zoomers are also very tech illiterate. Even something like Brave is "too annoying" for them
>>109011825
Hate when this happens. I barely help them out or suggest anything to anyone due to this.
>>109013518
Firefox is slow (on Android) and some sites won't work properly. I think a chromium based browser is better for a tech illiterate

Pipe pipe is good tho, most of them don't care about YouTube's suggestions so this is a good alternatives
>>
>>109010952
yeah i spent ages teaching one luddite how to run revanced until i stopped being a dumbass and remembered i can just send APKs so i patched youtube/YT Music and distributed it to every android user i know. I also put ublock and sponsorblock on my dads laptop and their family PC and top it all off by running a plex server so they can watch the shows they want on their TV. It's a lot less effort than it sounds and makes my life easier as well.
>>
>>109010952
I am seriously considering putting up adguard on my raspberry.
>>
youtube ads went from "wait 10 sec and click skip" to "this is like watching ad supported tv 30y ago"

My mom needs a windows laptop with vpn to some low ad country to watch youtube on the telly.
>>
>>109013801
Brave, Cormite. But if it works well for you then fair enough
>>109013805
Just install TizenTube on her TV nigga
>>
>>109013819
here youtube does a thing where the ad is inserted into the stream and you just watch a black screen for 1 min straight during the ad with adblock
>>
>>109013826
Hm, that's weird. It works great for me.
Are you sure the app it's updated to the latest version? Have you tried SmartTube?
>>
>>109013836
Im talking about windows ublock experience
im not sure what apps can be loaded on lg tvs
>>
>>109010952
That is done by goggle on purpose, they terrorize you with ads just to get you to pay them for "premium". They are often not even paid for those ads they repeat 10 times in a row, even after you clicked "not interested, do not show again". It is done to spite you and persuade you that using youtube like this is impossible.
Goggle done that to themselves. They demanded so much money for aids as a middleman, people started doing "sponsorship" to fund their channels. Which completely bypasses goggle.
>>
>>109013839
I guess you're using regular Chrome with uBlock? Brave works good for me, never had an issue. Firefox with uBO should also be good
>>
>>109013852
its region specific thing
>>
>>109010952
Never spread the word of adblock to anyone. The cattle has to watch the ads for us.
>>
>>109010952
>Revanced
Does it include recommendation algorithm blocking features to prevent goggle from hooking people up on their slop, like youtube shorts and autoplay etc?
>>
>>109013869
You can include these patches if you want I think

No, i don't offer solutions in search of problems, i only offer a solution if explicitly asked for one.
>>
>>109013873
Yeah... I know. But does that software have those? If not, why even use it? There's probably better one out there. Beware of slop though.

Essentially you gotta have been born between 1977 and 1998 or you'll never be good in tech unless it's your job.
