>software development bar of entry then: $400-800 laptop
>software development bar of entry now: $100k worth of compute tokens
So this is the freedom... of AI....

Try writing some stuff by hand and using the AI as a tool to write tedious parts or to help when you can't figure how to accomplish something, not as a subcontractor you just make rewrite the whole thing until it gets it right.

You could get a used one, very old one, it did not matter much back then. What was hard to get was software and source code and libraries. Even learning materials were not as freely available as they are now. So it was paywalled on that level mostly.
You fags have no idea how easy it is now. And that is a problem of it's own. It seems like it got worth, exactly because it became easier. Which means more people trying to do it, which means increased supply of workforce, which means lower pay and more competition.

You mean
>$400
plus years of your life? Idk 100k seems a bargain if you ship an app on the scale like tinder in a day.

>how dare I have to learn to code in order to code
ah yes I'm sure you've produced the finest quality slop, which you have absolutely no ability to tell whether it is good or not because you haven't "spent years of your life" learning how to recognize good from bad.

Write code yourself?
