Anyone tried the update did you see any changes?

I updated and now secure boot fails
>>
>>109018994
why even use secure boot
unless you keep your pc in a public toilet I don't see why you would care
>>
>>109019020
Most modern multiplayer games require secure boot
>>
>>109019042
ok
>>
>>109019050
I'm not him I'm just saying a lot of people have no real choice when it comes to secureboot because they refuse to stop playing multiplayer slop
>>
>>109018586
I'm excited to check it out in 2032.
>>
>>109018586
No, because I already have modern hardware that Windows 11 runs perfectly fine on

This was MS throwing a bone to whiny retards with 10+ year old hardware

Linux was a good move, KDE is pretty jeeted and the devs consider users to be unpaid beta testers
>>

Did they finally fix the lock screen clock problem?

If your screen is locked, and you wiggle the mouse, you get the clock. But, if you hit a key, it goes to entry of the password. You can't exit to see your clock. :^) trolled.
>>
>>109020758
Not if used with stable distros
I find KDE by far better than any other desktop of any other os

Kde is C++, how come jeets are on board ?

It's ON_DEMAND scheduler from Android every click or tap you do maxes out the chip and forces the screen to 120-165hz and then races to sleep and 30hz.

yes, w11 and android are both unoptimized spaghetti code aislop crap based on framework hell, thanks for confirming that.

I already had it back in May with Vivetool.
The difference is barely noticable on a high-end PC.

I hate the new start menu because its just wasted space that fits a couple of small icons. I want big icons with barely any margins like windows 10. I also hate that you can't use a thin taskbar because they took away that option. They just took win 10 and made it worse.

No thanks.

I'm glad I switched from Windows to Linux in 2010. Winblows has only gotten exponentially worse since then. Especially with all the AI garbage.

Good riddance.

Just say shooter slop with invasive anti-cheat and be more honest.
>>
>>109024690
I don't see why anti-cheat would be a reason.
secure-boot is a tool to protect your OS from external attackers.
But if the attacker is the user of the OS, secure boot is easily circumvented with something like LogoFail, or just a hacked uefi.
But if I was a hacker, I would want a DMA because it looks really cool, honestly that uefi / VM shit might be for poorfags, but DMA's are like good old flashcarts for your PC.
>>
>>109018596
Yes 95% of people use Windows
>>
>>109018586
this >>109021600
All of these Windows 11 updates are literally just clock and scheduler tinkering, not updating the actual software itself.
If they actually rewrite all the webslop into WinUI and admit vibecoding was a mistake then I'll consider going back.

does nothing on a feature or functional level

they said themselves that windows 10 is the last release of windows and thats over a decade old at this point. i thin the point of no return for that os family was windows 8 thats when it became unusable

>>
I wonder where that bullshit update to "steamOS performance levels" is coming out
>>
>microsoft wears user hardware out to trick them into thinking their operating system is faster because they can't code a proper start menu
how can it get this bad? why would I need my cpu to be maxed out to check my emails or search for a file? basic functionality used to be instant flawless.
>>
>>109030397
According to redditards, this is completely fine and all OSes do that.
>>
>>109028345
Absolute retards. Intel managed to make efficient chips again and pajeets ruined it with one windows update
>>
>>109029047
>they said themselves that windows 10 is the last release of windows
One person claimed that at a trade conference, Microsoft never issued a statement like this

112 KB JPG
>>109031300
windows 10 was the last and they stopped issuing security updates so windows is a deprecated operating system at this point

you can run it on industrial devices/old stuff if you need to support old windows-only drivers but no one uses this sytem for personal computing or new projects
>>
>>109028345
it's not just energy consumption. correct me if I'm wrong but revving up your CPU constantly must decrease its lifespan. I mean a cpu randomly going up and down to make it look like the windows menu got faster can't be good.
>>
>>109031341
You got clickbaited. The article itself even mentions that it was a random "developer evangelist" who made this claim at a conference. It was never an official Microsoft statement.
>>
>>109031300
>>109031634
The idea was Windows 10 was going to be the last Windows.
In practice it was as 10 had the longest streak of no direct successor.
It's just for practical support purposes there had to be a cutoff for OEMs so they don't have to fix drivers for what where 10+ year old machines near the end of 10s life. Windows 10 was the equivalent of several service packs and releases in terms of changes over time with updates.
>>
>>109031634
either way its retarded that this distro doesnt have a consistent release cycle like 1y/2y/6m or whatever every other one uses.
>>
>need a vm for windows stuff
>install windows 11
>4GB ram, 40GB disk, 2 cores
>install the guest drivers to everything to work
>complete unusable
People who claim X version is faster because it's newer should be castrated and branded with hot iron in the face
>>
>>109031648
>The idea was Windows 10 was going to be the last Windows.
Yes, the idea in your mind, planted by some guy who had no authority to make that statement. Windows will continue to be developed, it will continue to hold the overwhelming majority of the marketshare, and Linux will continue to struggle to break into double-digit adoption rate figures. That's unironically a good thing, since the fabled Year of the Linux Desktop would only herald the enshittification of Linux. Keep Linux niche and it will remain good.
>>
>>109031666
There's no need for it, since the overwhelming majority of PC users are happy with their Windows installs. Let them deal with the issues, and the rest of us can enjoy Linux. Never stop gatekeeping.
>>
>>109030397
>>109031614
This is how all CPUs operate.
Generally they boost as high as they can if they detect something can be sped up before downclocking.
All windows is doing is likely preempting the CPU to boost before executing certain tasks.
>>
>>109031678
>Yes, the idea in your mind
It was in execution.
Windows 10 had the longest streak of no successor. They got rid of the idea of service packs or any dot one versions.
There very much was no intention of them moving away from 10 anytime soon.
>>
>>109031744
>Windows 10 had the longest streak of no successor.
Sounds notable until you actually look at the numbers. It was under a year longer than XP's streak.
>>
>>109030397
unused cpu is wasted cpu
>>
>>109030397
Boosting isn't going to "wear out" your CPU, it's not a pair of shoes. Unless it's Intel, then I guess it might literally wear out, they had problems like that not long ago, but that's a hardware flaw.
