started doing the memclock overclock on the 9070xt, turns out steel nomad isn't so good because I can't pin the gpu clock so I get results changing way too much, maybe I'll lower the gpu clocks to a minimum later to try to leave memclock as the only variable
anyway I've been using memclock_vulkan to overclock the gpu, as you can see on the image, the second full dataset has the memclock at 2850mhz and a stable 600gbps write and 639gbps read
the next one is at 2900mhz and I getting a reduction in reads and writes after every 30 seconds retest
now
is that instability? the 5 minute test still passed, I'm not gonna stress test for 2 hours I'm just wondering if this is an indicator that it's not stable long term
perhaps I should find the memclock in between 2850 and 2900 that doesn't give out degrading results over time and set it as the safe overclock

hey /pcbg/ update time.

I just installed my 5070 on my pc and updated the drivers. Easy install. I had to use the power adapter that came with the card for my old PSU to convert the 2 8 pins to a 16 pin. That is where my issues began. My PSU is 600w and is about 10 years old. I was able to update the refresh rate on my new monitor as well to 240hz and that helped with some FPS issues. However i had to under power my GPU to 80% to prevent black screens from GPU undervoltage during spikes in a heavier game like windrose. New PSU RMx 750w Corsair Gold is on the way and should arrive tomorrow. When i run WoW i get about 120 frames per second and no black screens. Lesson learned, dont skimp on a $100 part to get your $1000 gpu+monitor to work properly. Thanks for reading my ted talk.

I'm looking for a mouse for work. Recently started estimating and I'm constantly needing to zoom in and out of building plans. The shitty Lenovo mouse they gave me with my work computer is driving me crazy. I've got a bit of leeway for requesting they order something better, but probably $150 CAD would be top of that budget.
Ideally something with a smooth scroll, wide wheel, and lightish clicks. DPI swapping would be handy for changing sensitivity on the fly between scrolling plans and measuring things precisely. But i imagine anything with that would put you in gaymer territory.
I don't really like trackballs.

Doing a perfect path traced image is costly, mathematically, requires large amount of silicon dedicated to it. Having good hair takes a lot compute, bouncing lights to fake an realistic lighting gets expensive fast with old methods.
Doing a raster image, with some RT and then manipulating the pixels via hardware accelerated ML algorithm is cheap enough so thats what we get.

What EU country? Replacing one 1440p LCD with another 1440p LCD is the definition of a side-grade (even if it's a VA replacing an IPS).
I would wait and save to either get a 4K@27" LCD for the pixel density clarity improvements or grab 1440p OLED instead for the night-and-day upgrade in colors, contrast, response times, and viewing angles.

I just wouldn't consider a 1440p LCD even with MiniLED backlighting near the same price as the same-resolution of OLEDs as they've recently have gotten.
It needs to be a lot cheaper than that for me to recommend it to you.

However, for OLED fine-text detail will take a hit due to color fringing which may or may not be visible to you depending on how sensitive you are to it (and how far away you sit from your desk).

AM4 motherboards are like $100. Total performance gained by shelling out $2000 on new mobo/cpu/ram compared to your current system will be negligible.
The only reason I'd actually rec you go to AM5 is if you wanted a board with more modern features since AM4 boards dont support PCIe 5.0, but again you'd be spending shittonnes for a Gen 5 SSD or current gen GPU (to which your 6800XT ain't a slouch for that matter).

+1 to what other anon said. Try a different PSU. If you're on the fence about spending the money, just buy a low wattage PSU for $40 which you can use for diagnostics in the future regardless. It's nice having a test bench or at least a spare PSU you can use to test things outside of a case with. I'd say to pull the GPU while you test but no iGPU reee. Just don't use the GPU for more than running your displays while you test if the PSU is sub 600W. I've ran a 6800XT on a 650W gold PSU before fine.
