so am I going to lose gaming performance if I switch to Linux?I have a 7800X3D and 4070. I kind of want to switch to Arch to make my own SteamOS and to use PewDiePie's Odysseus.
Is now a good time to upgrade to an rx 9070 xt? They seem to have gone done in price a ton since their launch last year.
>>109020998>njudea card>linuxplease save yourself the headache and do not do this
>>109020998The only problem is DX12 but it's nothing too crazy at this point and DX12 performance has been steadily improving last months. I expect near parity with Windows in the following months.

Is there any reason to disable DSC on AMD?
Does DSC turn on dynamically as needed or is it always active as long as the current base Windows refresh rate is calculated to require it?

>>109021403Modern DE's babysit you for the most part. The real "fun" begins when you want to set up gaming or try to make something work when the GUI sandbox fails to do the job. Or when you have a piece of software that just won't run on Linux.>>109020998Don't. I get it, everyone on the Internet is trying to convince people to switch to Linux and with people like PewDiePie shilling how amazing it is you're buying into it. Just don't, for all the shilling cultists do, Linux is still way more annoying to deal with compared to modern Windows. And yeah, the same people also continuously over-exaggerate how bad Win11 is as skewing the narrative is the only way they can convince people to join the Cult of Tux. The fact that just about every tech publication capitalizes on the trend of shitting on Microsoft doesn't help. It doesn't help that /g/ is thoroughly infested with these types as well.Head to >>>/g//fwt/ and set up 11 IoT LTSC. Then run Chris Titus' WinUtil for good measure. Done, you have a nice, clean, stable OS base. Now install whatever it is that you need on top of it and enjoy a working computer.

started doing the memclock overclock on the 9070xt, turns out steel nomad isn't so good because I can't pin the gpu clock so I get results changing way too much, maybe I'll lower the gpu clocks to a minimum later to try to leave memclock as the only variableanyway I've been using memclock_vulkan to overclock the gpu, as you can see on the image, the second full dataset has the memclock at 2850mhz and a stable 600gbps write and 639gbps readthe next one is at 2900mhz and I getting a reduction in reads and writes after every 30 seconds retestnowis that instability? the 5 minute test still passed, I'm not gonna stress test for 2 hours I'm just wondering if this is an indicator that it's not stable long termperhaps I should find the memclock in between 2850 and 2900 that doesn't give out degrading results over time and set it as the safe overclock

hey /pcbg/ update time.I just installed my 5070 on my pc and updated the drivers. Easy install. I had to use the power adapter that came with the card for my old PSU to convert the 2 8 pins to a 16 pin. That is where my issues began. My PSU is 600w and is about 10 years old. I was able to update the refresh rate on my new monitor as well to 240hz and that helped with some FPS issues. However i had to under power my GPU to 80% to prevent black screens from GPU undervoltage during spikes in a heavier game like windrose. New PSU RMx 750w Corsair Gold is on the way and should arrive tomorrow. When i run WoW i get about 120 frames per second and no black screens. >>109024126you know why I discredit the antis on dlss5?The technology applies to the entire screen, the entire scene you play in, but the reactionaries talked about 1 games 1 characters 1 face 90% of the time as being the evidence the tech is DOAThey pretend the studio has zero control over it.They pretend nvidia doesn't improve the tech from the preview version. They pretend the REST OF THE GAME doesnt exist besides a face.what fucking retads.

After all, DLSS5 won't replace the renderer but instead work on top of it.Of what use was the push for ray tracing if now we're completely replacing it with a diffused image that only has the screen space frame for reference?

>>109023597The point of RT wasn't to make games look better it was to sell you new cards otherwise you get stuck playing a much worse graphically version of the game you paid for or if the game doesn't have a no rt option you don't get to play it all. They are now repeating this again with DLSS 5 which I imagine on games 3 or 4 years from now if you don't turn it on the game will look like shit. The goal is total vendor lock in with AMD or Arc not even being an option anymore for even just gaming. This is what any monopoly does when it has total dominance of a market and can force the industry to adopt all it's tech as mandatory features.
>>109024540Look, I didn't ask for someone to tell me, what I already know. Okay? I wanted to hear what the Nvidia apologist had to say against this simple criticism, but the silence can be truly deafening.
>>109024554Is there like a religious aspect to this where people believe some sort of god given graphics exist that are then corrupted by ml techniquescomputer graphics are the way they are from people faking everything and the tools doing a good job producing certain kinda fake image that people find more or less acceptablethe games dont look like that because the artist dreamed of it, its because the artist faces greater and greater hurdles to go beyond itDLSS 5 is just one thing they'll use to make a better image they prefer.

>>109024586The issue with DLSS5 is that Jensen wants to sell it as the next ultimate form of computer graphics, when in reality it's like those Nvidia App screen filters. Some people will prefer to tweak their shit so it'll be a secondary option. But of course he wants to make it the next big thing to keep on pushing AI and to keep locking people into the Nvidia ecosystem so they buy nothing but Nvidia and the competition won't be able to match their newest DLSS fucktoy feature everyone will drool over and demand that it's either that or nothing because consumers are retarded cattle.
>>109024635I dont see the point of complaining about someone creating a feature thats so popular that people will part money to get it. How else would things go.Its old man yelling at clouds.
>>109024635they want to believe if they let AI train by watching a game render their enough for long enough that the AI will make it better than native which is the same insanity behind the ai bubble thinking AI will replace creative work because AI can't do that, it can only copy and reproduce itthey should've stopped in dlss4.5 and it would be fine and just work on making it cost less resources but they are drunk with power and they need to keep upselling the ai fantasy and it'll ultimately lead to a crash
>leave the green 6-gorllion bucks company alone
>>109024655idk I don't want these "features" to peddle me less raw compute at higher prices because this "feature" will "magically" make up for it? I'd say that's my biggest complaint here, the 50 series is already badly cut down with MFG being pushed as the "solution" for overpriced, underpowered hardware. That to me is the biggest gripe with Nvidia's tactic. Also that game devs are lazy and will use it as an excuse to not optimize their games but I don't play modern trash.>>109024656If you played with AI toys before you knew exactly what DLSS5 was and why it was so garbage. Real-time image2image diffusion. That's why it needed a dedicated 5090 to pull off, that's why it looks so bad, and that's why it makes up details that weren't there, changing face geometry and adding non-existent light sources. But Jensen is so high on his own farts he contradicted himself when people asked him if it's exactly that and essentially said that yes, it is exactly what every slopper saw from a mile away. Stupid, ridiculously computationally expensive, no other point than to peddle the 60 series.
>>109024656Its a question of whats physically cheapest way to accomplish colored pixelsDoing a perfect path traced image is costly, mathematically, requires large amount of silicon dedicated to it. Having good hair takes a lot compute, bouncing lights to fake an realistic lighting gets expensive fast with old methods.Doing a raster image, with some RT and then manipulating the pixels via hardware accelerated ML algorithm is cheap enough so thats what we get.
>>109024692thats not what dlss does because its not what upscaling is, which is simply rendering the scene at a lower resolution and upscaling it to a higher resolution, ai should be doing any deep recursive thinking while doing it, they are ruining the game's artistic fidelity by adding all the ai vision model aspects to the technologythey should have stayed doing the old dumb upscaling, that's what people want

The die would be around 22% smaller. The public Z890 page only confirms the package size and the official 6W chipset base power. Intel also lists Z890 with 24 PCIe 4.0 lanes, DMI 4.0 x8 and up to five USB 3.2 Gen 2×2. Power draw is the more interesting part of this leak. Jaykihn says the rumored 14W figure for Z990 is real, but only when a full PCIe 5.0 configuration is attached. In a more typical configuration, the chipset is reportedly rated at 7.9W. That is 1.9W higher than Z890’s official 6W base power. The same source also says Z970 should be much closer to Z890, with a reported 6.4W figure. This would put Z970 only 0.4W above Z890, while Z990 would sit higher due to the added I/O configuration. Genuine question. Is it worth "de-googling?" I have considered it ever since I tried to sign up for a Gmail on PC and it required a phone number. Just a hard requirement of a phone number to make a fucking e-mail. I got around it by getting on my phone where it simply did not prompt this at all. It just let me make the e-mail without a phone number. So here's my question. Do I just use a gmail without a phone number or switch to proton mail? What Google services do I even NEED anyway? You can't make a youtube account without a google account can you? But do you even need one? And google play store is all sloppa isn't it?So I guess I'm just realizing Google doesn't even offer anything you need? I don't need google drive or any of that shit.A part of me just can't accept using something that wants to cram a phone number requirement down my throat. I will never use any service that forces me to have a phone number.

>>109025836VA-panels suffer black smearing in high-motion due to slow pixel response in the low end (0-50) of the 0-255 gtg signal transition range:https://www.displayninja.com/ktc-m27t6-review/#PerformanceAnd even with the M27T6's 1152 MiniLED Zones you'll still get some blooming in both SDR & HDR because when many small bright details are beside large dark areas on-screen at once it can't adjust fine enough as OLED can at the pixel-level of granularity. You can get a 1440p QD-OLED for only a little more than the M27T6 that will give better image quality with none of VA's drawbacks (~€360):https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/Wrkqqs/aoc-q27g41zdf-265-2560-x-1440-240-hz-monitor-q27g41zdfI just wouldn't consider a 1440p LCD even with MiniLED backlighting near the same price as the same-resolution of OLEDs as they've recently have gotten. It needs to be a lot cheaper than that for me to recommend it to you. However, for OLED fine-text detail will take a hit due to color fringing which may or may not be visible to you depending on how sensitive you are to it (and how far away you sit from your desk).>>109025848 is correct that true stripe-RGB OLEDs are about to be released late this year into next year but they probably won't reach "budget" OLED price-levels for awhile I'd imagine. My advice is run a dual-monitor setup with the 1440p OLED for games/video and keep your current 1440p IPS for your desktop/text-based uses on the side. This will also double your expected OLED's lifetime (probably to 8-10 years). Just grab 2x cheap VESA Montiors Arms or a single dual-monitor arm to mount them both on.If you principally want this display upgrade for productivity/text and not games/video then I'd instead look at this 27" 4K@160Hz IPS for ~€260:https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/ZJTFf7/aoc-u27g4r-270-3840-x-2160-160-hz-monitor-u27g4r
