Did you ever own a Windows phone?
Do you miss it?
>>
it was horrible. browsing the internet with ie11. no rooting possible. fucking around with sd card (install 2 apps not from store, move the apps to sd card, remove sd card, repeat for every 2 apps to install).
closest thing to rooting was interop unlock and that was achieved only for the most popular models. the rest of plebs sucked dick.
>>
microsoft moving to smartphone business made them realize something. they immediately had enshittifying sparkles in their eyes. they failed to unlock the potential of windows on phones and brought down windows on pc to garbage as well.

in some ways i miss it. i later got an early android phone since i was more or less completely switched over to linux by then, and early android custom roms were fun

No, but my sister owned one as her first smartphone. It was orange, perhaps Lumia 630.
>>
>>109021115
Had a Lumia 520, one of the best phones I ever had.
>>
I owned two. Reddit blocks Edge on Windows Phone with their "network security" message.
>>
>>109021115
I had the Lumia 1520. It was great.
>>
>>109021115
briefly used one Lumia 520, amazing phone, blazing fast for the hardware, I really wish it never died
>>
>>109021115
Yes. Still have it to play games while sitting on the toilet.

yes

no

I did. I actually liked it. Mostly because it was sooo cheap and wasnt bad looking. My favorite feature was when you dropped it, the back plate would pop off and battery would eject across the room. At the time it was annoying, but hindsight is 20/20 in an era when thats closer to a security feature than these always on devices.

I have one I managed to update to w10mobile from 8.1.
It is garbage, only at w10m they added a simple limited file manager, you can do nothing, you can install nothing without a giant jailbreak process and even then you are stuck with a pc. Even if you manage to install something and it doesn't just ignore you or show an error, the 10 apps it has are half baked crap.

The one with glossy design was better thought
>>
>>109022930
that one was actually good
>>
>>109022930
Sure but metro was pretty good as a phone interface, it gets a bad rep because they pushed it onto desktops.
>>
>>109021115
Nokia 620 was comfy
>>
>>109021321
>>109021336
lumia phones were pretty solid at the time for cheap smartphones
kinda miss mine but the screen was too small
>>

I owned a windows phone at the worst possible time in my life for it. I was deeply immersed in the whole google ecosystem (it was very convenient)
I could've lived without the integration, some of the alternatives were even good (nokia maps, I believe, was actually maybe better than google maps)
I could not live without gtalk. all my friends were there, my girlfriend was there
I believe there were some official google apps, but I think they were all extremely limited and broken
today, I'm completely degoogled. so I switched to the iphone. I wouldn't switch to windows phone even it it were available, though. I don't trust microsoft anymore than I trust google now
>>
I had a few: 520, 735, and 930. I liked them, and the OS was nice at the end of its life. I could like without apps as I was quite happy calling, texting (occasionally) and using WhatsApp. The camera on the 930 was pretty good compared to most other phones of its era. Even the 735 camera was good.

I really liked my windows phone. Piece of shit but it was neat.
>>
I had a lumia, I liked the phone and the apps or programs were of good quality but it was buggy and felt slow, android is clearly the winner
>>
Yeah it was fine. Android was more sluggish back then but app support never really materialized. NOKIA really pulled through though
>>
>>109021115
I had a HTC 8X, I liked that phone, but only because it was very slim and good sized. Windows itself wasn't that bad, but nothing supported it, so I went Android. Now I'm using a company iShit and I can't wait to go back to Android again.
>>
>>109021115
yeah i had a lumia 720 and fuck yeah i miss it
only thing that sucked at the time was little app store but i don't use any of that meme app store shit now anyway

you would just look at the screen and everything you needed to see was on the tiles without having to see anything else and you could customize them so much. It was a lot smoother than a lot of the android garbage at the time.

After it got killed I went nexus phones and now iphone and they all are so annoying. I miss it.
>>
>>109021115
best thing was HERE maps it had offline map and navigation, i think it was on par if not better than google maps on phone when it was at its peak
>>
>>109023349
>and the OS was nice at the end of its life.
you mean grandpa
>>
>>109023060
I agree, because the glossy designs were made for HD displays, and flat design were originally made for windows phones.
>>
>>109021115
no and no
>>
>>109021115
yes lumia 1520 and I really liked it
>>
>>109023060
>Sure but metro was pretty good as a phone interface
If you like garbage big-ass squares, I guess: Sure.

You can get a launcher on Android that functions like Metro and it just shows the usability of it isn't that great if you have a lot of applications.

interface is very responsive and the design is nice, if not the most efficient

They're effective at what they do, and they're certainly not that big once you have a few apps installed.

I miss windows mobile aka windows CE. A truly open OS where you could do whatever you wanted.
Windows phone on the other hand was dogshit. MS hired a dogshit designer with no knowledge of UX and also locked shit down as much as applel did. It deserved to flop hard, and it did.
