hahhah AI luddites totally BTFO

>>109026060>ADLAre those the guys who were founded to protect some jewish child rapist?
>>109026029Luddites think we are at the black line and it will all smooth out very soon. What they cant understand is just how restrained the human brain is in terms of size, energy consumption and goals. A little more freedom in these restraints results in vastly better results, compare our brains to chimpanzees, ours are just 3-4 times bigger than theirs and the difference in intelligence is massive. Imagine a computer "brain" that achieves even just 10% of the efficiency of the biological brain and is the size of a warehouse that uses as much power as a city.We havent even begun the exponential curve, current AI is nothing, we are here
>>109027285Current AI is nothing even remotely similar to the way our brains work, and the way they keep funneling (embezzling) funds into fucking transformers means we'll never actually branch out to create an algorithm that appropriately models actual thought.
>>109027612This transformers are fundamentally doomed. On the other hands, CNNs are already used everywhere since the 2010's.I bet you can't spend a single day without a CNNs drastically impacting your life. CNNs are the basis for what decides what youtube/insta/tiktok/twitter shows you, what company blackrock invests in, what rate the bank charges you on a loan.People are freaking out because they're being rolled out en masse for dynamic pricing and algorithmic surveillance, but we've already been thoroughly exposed to them on the web for more than a decade now, and yes they sometime misbehave and nudge people into doing wrong things (but they maximize profit in doing so).>t. worked a summer internship for a company that makes surveillance systems for china
>>109026029it doesn't really matter if picrel
I am more of a three curve guy.
>>109026029Zoomer here, if there's any boomers around, I wonder how this current shift compares to the moore's law computing advances back in the day. I remember reading that apparently people would write heavy programs that would have trouble running on computers of the day and not be too worried because in a year computers would nearly double in performance so they'd expect their software/game/whatever to run fine. Whereas nowadays we wait 1-2 years between major hardware gens that provide like a 10-15% uplift, and a high end PC built ten years ago is still mostly high end today. On paper this feels similar to how new SOTA models are coming out every few months and every time it's a major improvement that's worth switching to (at work, I've flip-flopped between anthropic and openai models two or three times in just 2026 as each one comes out with a model that makes the previous SOTA obsolete).
>>109029866I've used rotary phone when I was young. Noww I'm running llm in my home.
>>109028720very nice
>>109027285>compare our brains to chimpanzeesAI-Guddite brain is comparable to chimp's brain, ye. expecting AI will improve it is futile - better brains will simply use AI better and what Guddite doesnt know - science or mental processes are extremely low energy, comparable to wisper. loud things cannot be smart. when smart thing is loud, its means its already happened before.
So are you saying nature does not have infrastructure to support the singularity?
>>109029866there's a reason>but can it run crysis?was a meme for multiple gpu generations
>>109026037I entered this thread to ask of there has ever been something that was purely exponential that was older than 50 years old but you ruined everything by your retardation.
>>109028558That's most certainly not what's happening, just think about the difference between GPT-3 and GPT-5. It's progress but the only exponentials are the training data input and output cost.
>>109031863get a load of this cattle goy afraid to question the guys in white coats
>>109029866>people would write heavy programs that would have trouble running on computers of the day and not be too worried because in a year computers would nearly double in performance so they'd expect their software/game/whatever to run fine.If you were an old zoomar you would most certainly have experienced that.No computer could hope to run Crysis when it started to be developed but when it was released a 300 dollar GPU could run it at mostly high settings.Sometimes it backfired, windows Vista was catastrophic. Vista required way too much RAM to run and at the same time low powered laptops became popular. It was a disaster.

>>109031938I'm just about old enough to have used Vista, on a budget laptop my mum bought no less, I was probably too young at the time to see any issues with it especially since I didn't know better.I do know about the crysis meme but to be fair devs make horribly optimised games even today.
