Are they futureproof?
>>109029330Ask yourself, What are the odds that anyone else is capable of making a better laptop?
>>109029399Anything isn't apple is already a better laptop
>>10902933016" MacBook Pro with the M5 Max (18-core CPU, 40-core GPU) chip, 64 GB of unified memory and 4 TB of storage is future-proof, yes. Although there's a rumor that the next MacBook Pro generation, releasing at the end of 2026 or in early 2027 will be a redesign with an OLED screen.
>>109029495if the air had an oled screen it would be the perfect laptop. still happy enough with mine though
>>109029495oled is downgrade tho
>>109029330I've returned an M4 and M5 MBP to continue using a 2015 MBP. A lot of the base macOS apps (Messages, Notes, Phone) still work decently well and the PCIe 3.0 adapter I put into the thing keeps it somewhat competent despite being Intel. It can still run Windows via Boot Camp if I really wanted as well. For the autistic /g/idiots in the back of the bus - MacBooks, like all laptops, are the equivalent of living in a trailer. They depreciate like a rock and can fail on a dime. If you're asking the futureproof question, consider building a PC instead with some used DDR-4 based parts. Good luck!
>>109029330>one pin under SSD chip goes bad>whole macbook is brickedYes, one pin has slight connection problem and whole motherboard, display, keyboard, powersupply etc. all refuse to work and is bricked. Can't even use those parts in other macbook.
Obviously yes, my 2020 Macbook Air with 8gb of Ram is still rock solid and, it's so futureproof that 2026 laptops have the same memory configuration.
>>109029775it's not getting macOS 28
>>109029330>CPU cannot be upgraded>GPU cannot be upgraded >RAM cannot be upgraded >Storage cannot be upgraded So... No.
>>109029330Yes.
>>109029405Why is it near impossible to find an x86 PC laptop with 32GB VRAM when MacBook Pro GPUs can have access to 128GB?
>>109030093>CPU cannot be upgraded>GPU cannot be upgradedIsn't that the case for most laptops? When was the last time you ever upgraded a laptop from an RTX 3060 to an RTX 5090?
>>109029775>early 2010s SpotifyHome.
>>109030161I already have a 5070, when I need to upgrade I'll let you know. And when I need to upgrade my Ryzen 9 7940HS, I'll tell you how that goes. I own a framework 16, upgrading is trivial.
Was my 19 year old thinkpad future proof? Because I'm using it right now.

>>109031481The average DESKTOP owner never changes ram nor ssd
>>109029330they are not even presentproof
>>109029330well, the moment apple revolutionizes laptops with a notchless screen you're going to feel like an absolute fucking retard for paying that much money for a screen with a rectangular cluster of dead pixels
>>109029495>muh oled
>>109031836It's gonna have a dynamic island, what's the difference?
>>109031836That’s honestly what I’m waiting for and I’m willing to pay top dollar for it. The receding hairline is hideous.
Apple should've just lowered the price of MacBook Air. The MacBook Neo having a mobile CPU is retarded.
>>109030076Who said it has to run macOS in the future?
