university->career fairs->internships->full-time employment

thats the foolproof method, but its not necessarily easy because the stuff you're learning and studying in university is barely ever the stuff they'll be asking you in interviews, so you can't really shoot 2 birds with 1 stone, you have to study for interviews as if it were a separate subject

sent my CV to some defense company, they called back, we did an interview, talked about gentoo and I had a job, as simple as.
most people who struggle to find a job in tech deserve it, your diploma is worthless even if it's harvard, caltech or whatever else you think is worth something.
your local gentooman who dream in tech and can have discussions about any layers of the stack has x100 more chance to get hired than the uni-drone who can memorize programing languages keywords or deploy a k8 cluster, a fucking kid can do that, my fucking grand mother can do that, swe is nothing special, there are millions people who can memorize keywords like you, not that many actually care about the craft and it's incredibly easy to spot for a recruiter if you care or not.

lie in your CV about your work experience, simple as.
Recruiters can tell who is lying, you just have to be confident about your base knowledge.
Don't exaggerate, don't give info about your past unless asked, if asked about past work references say you didn't end up in good terms with your past workplaces and you are looking for a fresh start.
Be humble, if you don't know something don't lie so basically, learn when and how to lie.
These days tech employers expect workers to know EVERYTHING about your area of IT, so fuck these niggers and straight up lie your way into wageslavery. Worst case, you get fired after 2 months of fucking shit up, but at least you got away with a paycheck.

This is the best advice ITT and everyone else glossed over it. Graduated 2023, 2/3 roles so far have come from staffing agencies. Due to their nature they're best for newcomers to start out and job hop until they find roles/companies they enjoy working with

Another option is industrial automation if there is any industry anywhere close to where you live, they usually scream after developers and the average developer working with industrial automation would need 4 weeks and unlimited tokens to implement fizzbuzz in Python.
>>
Sustainable lies anyone?
>>
>>109045134
I don't know why you and your ilk keep saying shit like that. You're just like the retards who claim learning cobol means you can get a guaranteed job. Have you actually tried? Of course not. Apply to these jobs and get ghosted. They don't want to hire anyone, they pay like garbage, and they still complain they can't find anyone.
>>
>>109045146
>they pay like garbage
That's the only thing you said that's true.
Cobol is not widely used in industry. You're far more likely to work with sole obscure Siemens or ABB visual block language
>>
>>109045175
>real isn't real

>>
>>109045200
Did you have any experience win anything they were doing? Even if they were working with normal languages they probably want you to have experience, and preferably be certified, with some obscure framework.
Have you worked with PLCs?

The only job in industrial automation that I think normal programmers can easily transition to without getting some bullshit certification is front-end or full stack developers for some industries. Most factories don't even have those
>>
>>109033343
How do you get employed in tech? By having experience in tech. Really though, who the fuck wants to hire someone who has no experience? Once your foot is in the door, you're in. First get an internship in college, go from helpdesk to dev, or something else. It has to be on your resume.

Second, you have to actually be useful. People think good software development is easy, but once you're thrown in there's a vast amount of shit you have to know. It differs per field. I'm a full stack web dev so I have to know everything from provisioning servers to design with CSS, and everything in between. It's easier with LLMs, but LLMs aren't a silver bullet (which is why we still have jobs).

If you wanted a job in tech, you should have started programming when you got your first computer as a kid, as I did. But I guess the second best time to hone your skills is now. So quit fucking around on social media, and start getting skilled if you're serious.
>>
>>109045219
See how you're already backpedaling so far? "Just apply fresh out of college dude they're hiring without questions they're crying for more and their hires are so dumb they can't even fizzbuzz"
Now suddenly it's "oh but did you have 15 years of experience in automation before getting your entry level job in automation?"
And that's also exactly how it works for cobol jobs by the way, they only hire people with >10 years of experience in cobol. However, they don't count hobby experience or internships, only professional experience. Which of course can't come because it's catch-22 or nepotism and nothing else goes.
>>
>>109045231
You clearly haven't been anywhere near the tech world lmao, this is the most retarded shit I've ever heard.

be born in 1975-1993 and get a STEM degree of any kind, or just play lots of video games as a kid
>>
>>109045301
>cobol
Pretty much no fucking industry works with COBOL and besides, COBOL is not low paid.
Industries work with PLCs and SCADA.

The certifications you should have unless you've studied for industrial automation in a community college or some such institution are usually piss easy if you can program and are either free or cheap.

If you can't manage it on your own you can apply to a consultant firm that works for industry. They will likely take you in if you know what a boolean is and what they will send you off to the nearest industry and they might give you the certs you'd need if you tried to get hired directly but the company you get send to won't care.
>>
>>109045350
Cobol jobs cap at 80k tc. I can get more straight out of college in webdev. You have 0 clue what you're talking about.
Keep crying and making shit up. You've backpedaled so far you're reaching the sun already.
>>
>>109045385
I haven't backpedaled once.
I am the poster who first claimed industrial automation need a lot of developers and that the average developer is bad. That's the extent of my initial claims.

Stop fucking talking about COBOL I'm sure you can't get hired as a COBOL dev without significant experience but that's not what's used in industrial automating except possibly for some extreme niche cases.

As my last post said you can easily start working for a company without any certs if you go through a consultant firm, you might start working in a few weeks. That's how it works in my country, a western and highly developed country.
>>
>>109033343
Time machine. Even an uncle that works at Google isn't enough these days.
>>
>>109045308
I've seen it happen. I don't care though, I made it. To those who want it, they can take the advice or not. Preferably not actually, don't want more competition
>>
>>109045308
Care to share how you got into tech btw?
>>
so basically in the tech world they're
>laying off evryone
>hire pajeets
>will proceed where they can to automate that with AI
>you're competing with guys with 10+ years of experience who are competing with 5+years experience with 15+ years experience

i'm just gonna keep it as a hobby and learn to weld or get an electrician cert or whatever.
at this point i might even just start shadow box in public spaces ,selling some crepes i make and ask for 10 euros the 30min training(basically make them throw some punches and say "yeah you're good").

or being illegal but drugs are a hell-hole of fuckers trying to fuck you up.

I got recruited by a startup out of master's because it was in the top lab in the world in a super hot field at the time. The startup got purchased by a FAGMAN and I stayed there a bit before leaving for greener pasture. The rest is history.
In other words, plain dumb luck, as it is for most people who entered the field past 2010, either this way or through playing the numbers raw.

>Master's degree? Honestly seems like a waste. Most guys I've worked with, and including myself, only had a bachelor's.
Yes, depend on what you want to do (specialization etc.). I also graduated in the middle of a crisis so there were no jobs anyway. That was why I went with the master's. I also later proceeded to a PhD. In conclusion, I think a (real) master's (not the study-based ones, those are degree mill scams; and not the internship-based ones, those are less interesting for a variety of reasons) is something everyone should consider, but absolutely nobody, including people who want to do research, should ever consider a PhD until the entire academic world is blow to bits and reformed from the ashes.
I don't know anyone who got in in the last 10 years without some kind of secret (nepotism in nearly all cases, sometimes lucking into an internship at a company before it became successful, but most people couldn't even get internships).
>>
Haha

Did you knowthat the worlds deadliest animal isn’t a shark, bear or tiger, but something far smaller – the mosquito. According to the World Health Organization, 725,000 people are killed each year from mosquito-borne diseases, such as Malaria, dengue fever and yellow fever.
