Did anyone buy macbook neo? it any good?
>>

>8GB of RAM
no
>>
>>109039335
My old budget laptop from 2012 has 12GB of RAM (probably can upgrade to more), upgradable storage (can do dual sata3), upgradable CPU (I'm not even joking), replaceable battery (neat treak is to own several and hot-swap them if you're near a socket and you can own 3 or 4 LMAO).

I own an old product. You want to sell me trash. Why?
>>
>>109039335
>8GB of RAM
>16:9 screen
>MacOS
>No way to ever upgrade the storage
I wet farted just thinking about it....
>>
>>109039335
They're for college students who don't use their computer for anything but homework/zoom.
>>
>>109039341
>thinks 8gb ram on a specialized piece of hardware with custom bytecode and 8gb on shitdows is the same thing
get off my board
>>
>>109039341
that's plenty for safari, non issue
>>
>>109039618
Even then, a modern browser with some tabs open will eat that up almost immediately.
>>
>>109039632
>a specialized piece of hardware with custom bytecode
No, it's just a fucking laptop, you pretentious know-nothing brand-whore.
>>
>>109039671
ram is completely useless when not in use, why is this an issue
>>
>>109039335
Give the lemon back, whore.
>>
>>109039335
got it as i needed a reliable laptop for mostly browser applications and mail. Pretty solid for the price. Don't expect anything heavy though.

Also the 8gb ram meme: i normally have like 20 tabs open and seldom run into trouble.
>>
>>109039680
>0.01 gpa vantablack gorilla doesnt understand hardware
sad part is its priced for monkeys like you and youll still never own one
>>
>>109039335
>phone CPU
No thanks.
>>
>>109039335
I use it when taking a big dump squatting a hole back in the jungle because it is so thin
>>
>>109039720
Modern websites will abuse that RAM, they have no concern for your buzzwords and applesliut feefees. Go embarrass yourself somewhere else.
>>
>>109039747
>monkey has no clue how operating systems address ram
>thinks websites decide ram usage
again, get off my board
>>

take a shower, virgin
no one on earth wants to be seen with that monstrosity of chinkpad or whatever the fuck thick cumbersome craptop you've got lol
some people would rather not give off pedo vibes

about what I expected
>>
>>109039992
This is 2012 tech, you dumb faggot.
Obviously I don't use it much, because I own a table and a monitor. Laptop is not exactcly healthy as daily driver. Product for bums and power point users who run around the office all day.
But if I were to design one, it would at least have hot swappable batteries (2x, to eliminate the need for a socket during a swap) and 12GB RAM or more. That is a bare minimum for a budged device.
Fucking arndoind phones have more RAM and they are 2-3 times cheaper than this meme fagbook.
Neo. More like outdated trash.
>>
>>109039335
Can it even run Windows 10 LTSC?
My Thinkbook can, has 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD.
>>
>>109040008
You never presented an argument, and you started barking ad homs first.
Point still stands, it doesn't matter how efficient MacOS is at addressing RAM (it isn't) when your garbage browser and dogshit webpages are using all of it. Now go cry about your $600 doorstop back on macrumors. And wash your ass, for fuck's sake.
>>
>>109039335
It's very good for what it is. Great build quality, screen, keyboard, trackpad. I recommended it to my mum and she's happy with it.
If you browse /g/, it's probably not suitable for you. If you even know what RAM is, it's probably not suitable for you.
>>
>>109039759
>>thinks websites decide ram usage
They literally do tho

my buddy in works in insurance - its a-okay i guess. It does everything normie wants. Browse interwebs, open some web-ui's for his insurance company - thats it.
I mean what can you DO with a cellphone SoC. Watching Youtube and shit, SSHing into shit - that doesnt take a lot of CPU power. For basic tasks its a perfectly good lil laptop.
>>
>>109042766
my man whats wrong with you. your feet are swollen and you seem to be overweight. Diabetes
>also are you fapping with disinfection lotion....eww
>>
>>109044152
>For basic tasks its a perfectly good lil laptop
Then what's the usecase?
If you only browse the internet, you can buy anyhing. Just go into whatever store, or Amazon, and order what looks nice, it doesn't matter.
>>
>>109044169
>anon cant read
for 600€ to open basic web apps, watching videos on youtube, listening music, netflix, ssh-ing into shit, word processing - as i just said. god damn this board wasnt full with dumbfucks 10 years ago when i started browsing it.
>>
>>109044169
dumbfuck
>>
>>109039671
no it wont. I use 8gb machines constantly and never run out of RAM
>>
>>109044199
Ah, anecdotal evidence, the crutch of the retard.
>>
>>109044169
>Just go into whatever store, or Amazon, and order what looks nice, it doesn't matter.
you cannot get better for $500
>>
no anon

curious but placed order for fourth asus motherboard
>>
>>109045080
now i'm wondering if i should do the same for my dead laptop
>>
>>109039335
If I didn't already have an M1 Air, I'd consider one just for work and keep things separate from my personal files. Tried the neo in the stores, was pretty nice. My main concern was the mechanical trackpad, but it worked pretty well. It wasn't the springboard style of old.

>lol 8GB
Never had a problem with that. And I often have 2 or 3 web browsers open.
>>
>>109039632
>custom bytecode
fucking tourists
>>
>>109039632
8 GB RAM is bottom of the barrel; you need at least 32 GB these days, and 16 GB is considered low for a budget laptop
>>
>>109045422

no anon

its bad shit&maggots_faced seniors give out worse than car market laptops for 150 cash and make every pull in scammer book to slay some teen
>>
>>109045469
Laptops are primary for businessmen, students, or people who travel a lot; there are exceptions, of course, like people with limited space.
The issue with Apple is they're the biggest scammers when it comes to PCs and laptops. You cannot use a PC or laptop in 2026. Maybe 10 years ago these days, most applications and browsers EAT a lot of RAM.
Apple needs to offer at least 32 GB by default; they're not cheap company.

Apple already said you need 12GB RAM for their latest AI shits so I assume the next version will have 12GB

Apple recently doubled the order of these, they thought they'd only sell 5 million which is insane
>>
>>109045594
They added local LLM code generation in Xcode 3 years ago and it's only works on apple silicon macs with 16GB and more of ram
>>
>>109039618
>>109039632
its definitely on the tight side of things. consider also that apple's efforts to limit RAM bloatage will be undone by the average website. they can play only so many tricks in Safari when forced to run someones dogshit javascript.
>>
>>109039778
Nice projection, faggot. I don't use it. I simply own an old laptop that I used 2012-2019 as first owner.
Now tell me more how do you cope with the fact that you are a proud owner of obsolete trash that loses to 2012 tech.
>>
>>109039341
that's not the issue, slow usb is the deal breaker
>>
>>109039740
arm is superior choice for notebook cpus because of energy efficiency
>>
8GB is perfect usable if you arent running Windows 11.
>>
>>109047180
No, that is the most damaging and alarming issue since it's non-upgradeable. Fast USB ports wouldn't do anything to fix it.
