I'm looking to buy some external drives to keep in a safe place to store media on the very long term. However many manufacturers have been enshittifying their products so I can't even trust the big names anymore for this task.Anyone got recommendations for something that lasts? It should probably be an HDD but maybe SSDs have gotten better for long term storage, idk I haven't kept up with that tech.
Externals drives are those that failed internal drive quality control. They are going to be worse.
I got one of these adapters to use with 2.5" HDDs I salvaged from laptops over the years and the SSD that my new laptop doesn't have a bay for. It's pretty nice for $12-$15.
use laser to inscribe bits into a glass cube. This ROM could last millions of years.
>>109044812> place to store media on the very long termLmao you are not going to make it. Storing digital data is never been easy. I would say you would be overjoy to store two years max
Do what >>109045096 says and buy an enclosure. They're cheap. If you don't have an old 2.5 inch HDD, get one off Ebay with low hours. I stick to Western Digital. Check on your data every now and again to make sure everything's good. >109045113 is a faggot retard ESL that doesn't know it's ass from it's own mother.
>>109045096>>109045185Oh yeah adapters do seem like a great solution. Thanks guys.>>109045113Yes master Netanyahu I will now buy cloud storage
>>109045185>WD newfa/g/ here, glad i made the right call. i'm happy with my 500gb relic

>>109045215Hey, >>109045096 here, I didn't realize that pic didn't show the branding, which is small white text on the distal end from the ports. It's made by Sabrent. If you're not familiar with the brand, it's always been good stuff for low prices. Never had a problem with their products.
>>109044812
>>109045100How do I read it though?
>>109045236Sounds like you got scammed and now mad about it. But you're mad at the wrong people. The ones who sold you trash are the scammers, not the one who pointed that out.
>>109045096These are very unstable, might corrupt data. Using real sata is always peferable to this trash.
