Remember that VeraCrypt may fail to boot into Windows after (during?) this month June 2026 because of MS signing issue.
If you're running Windows encrypted with VeraCrypt it's a good idea to read through this thread to see if you need to update anything. And backup your stuff of course, just in case.

https://sourceforge.net/p/veracrypt/discussion/general/thread/9620d7a4b3/

I have not seen much news coverage about this and had almost forgotten about it myself, so consider this a friendly reminder.

why would win7/10's bootloader care?

Is the issue an expiry date in the certificate, or that it's being added to a revocation list? If it's the latter, it won't affect people who don't get the updated revocation list.

The issue is the expiry but since I don't have secureboot enabled it's not my problem
As far as I know, UEFI revocation lists are somehow updated by Windows (probably through WU), but I doubt Windows 7 has this functionality

Serious question: what are you encrypting, and from whom?

Either you are in possession of some shit you really shouldn't be, or you are massively overestimating your own importance.

all androids and iphones are encrypted by default. does this mean that everyone who owns them is a terrorist o algo? is Apple facilitating terrorism?

everything's encrypted (family will never know i had spice girls mp3s)

you can also to run random games on steam that can't scan my files ("anti-cheat measurement" probably in the EULA ToS) because you dismounted the disk with important stuff.
dual boot? you can make sure the other OS doesnt fuck around with your shit without having to unplug disks.
best of all you get a password prompt during boot up before the OS even loads, how cool is that?

I use veracrypt on an external drive, while my boot drive is unencrypted. Easier to yank a USB out of its socket in a panic.

>>109059528
you're stuck in the past, it might be so for TrueCrypt but VeraCrypt has a PIM system with iterations on your password, meaning each password combination attempt will take ~1 sec to try if all algorithms need to be gone through. even more than 1 sec if the password is long and way more than 1 sec if a non-default PIM is used.

True but I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as site encryption is actually always decrypted and read by CloudFlare, who then encrypts the packet and sends it to the web server. HTTPS is not private unto itself, but just prevents more than 1 man in the middle from reading your communication with the website. It is like this for 20-25% of all websites, 4chan included (exhentai as well).

it's that easy. can you actually give any good reasons why one SHOULDN'T just encrypt everything at all times?
