Me (2011 computer)
>>
>>109052538
I have a 15 year old HDD. It still works.

They're much cheaper than SSDs if you want 1tb storage and more.
I have 3 usb hdds plugged at all times for storing shit since my main drive is completely saturated. Been like that for almost 10 years and none of them broke.
I've heard they're safer for prolonged unplugged storage too.

people who need more than 2TB of storage, zoomie

me (larger penis than yours)
>>
>>109052538
ask me how I know you dont do anything with a computer other than play silly games
>>
>>109052538
Me nigga, they may wear out but they don't have a finite amount of write cycles like flash chips do, which is awesome because you can beat it up as a scratch disk on your editing rig and they don't die.
>>
>>109052538
I do. If you have an alternative that's cheaper per TB let us know.. We'd love to pay less in these times.

Datacenters and extreme hoarders

they're cheap and hold lots of data

The SSD dream is dead
>>
>>109052538
I do. Even if I could technically afford 20 TB in SSD space, that would be completely retarded.

I know what you're trying to do, you're trying to turn people away from HDDs so there's more for yourself in these dire times. Well it won't work because I'm buying all of them.

me

SSD are 257% more expensive than earlier, HDD are only 35% more expensive than earlier (see https://winfuture.de/news,156367.html for details).

That's the reason for HDD in 2026.

I do because fuck you that's why.

I still like em cause they're very big and reasonably fast enough, I have a Windows 10 vbox that lives on an absolute clapper of a WD10EZEX and it's still fast enough.
>>
>>109052538
Big datacenters use up and replace several HDDs per hour.
>>
>>109053095
This. Oldest trick in the book.
>>
>>109052796
>they're cheap
If they're second hand.
>WD Elements 4TB in 2025: £95 (yeah, I know)
>WD Elements 4TB in 2026: £295
