Every single school system on the world can be passed by memorization.
Even in math you can just memorize formulas and then insert the different numbers asked in the exam. You will not score well, but you will pass. It's what women do.

idk what to tell you, anon
>>
>>109060246
>Every single school system on the world can be passed by memorization.
i didn't always understand why as a child, but nowadays i know that this is the reason why teachers ask for "your work" and to "write something in your own words". they want to gauge whether you actually understand something and so can recontextualise it, as opposed to just "recalling" the "correct" answer

>they want to gauge whether you actually understand something and so can recontextualise it, as opposed to just "recalling" the "correct" answer
And they aren't going to let you fail if you don't. They only try to spot who is good at something, to at least reserve the best grade to people who understand it. And only good teachers do that, it's not a required for them, and they are hated for it.
You can't let someone drop out just because he doesn't have the ability to understand something of one specific subject. If he really doesn't have the skill, no amount of learning will get him that. They always need the cope option of memorization, at least to pass.
>>
>>109059965
I think that is happening here in Australia too, my Nephew has missed most of this year due to family issues and is apparently still getting good grades, his parents just keep saying he's managing because he's so smart but I have some serious doubts about the whole situation.

Most analog clocks and watches are solely decorative these days with clocks especially being "art" pieces, so you will have things like hour and minute hands being way too close in size, no numbers or markers, and small gradations in angle being difficult to immediately eyeball, so it's not that rare you might have "trouble" even with knowing how and good visuospatial abilities.

I don't know if it's common in autismal adjacents or something, but despite having excellent visuospatial reasoning, I don't "know" East from West, despite the fact that I do know them and which one I'm talking about in actual "mental" direction, but will without fail say the wrong one

>>
>>109066527
Microwave time is funny because it's a very roundabout way of saying "convert seconds to minutes". If there's a less roundabout way of saying this then yeah, it's a new microwave time
>>
>>109064108
they're just called degrees. arc degrees if you're concerned about ambiguity.
>>
>>109066870
Just going "degrees" is a bit ambiguous. Arc degrees sounds better yeah, does it inherently imply that 90° is right and 270° is left? Because if you go from, say, a protractor, you'd end up with 90° as front
>>
>>109057329
Ngl I could see this being useful to people. What these LLMs are doing (or emulating) is basically just critical thinking, which a lot of idiots have never seen demonstrated before, or at least not since they left school a decade ago. It's just a reminder on how to reason something.
>>
>>109066883
if you tell someone to "turn 90 degrees", most would assume you mean their current heading is 0 and to turn 90 degrees clockwise, but arc degrees by themselves don't imply either. they aren't compass directions like "east" where that is a specific direction independent of your current heading.

>if you tell someone to "turn 90 degrees"
that's the thing, I never hear them say that, and I never say it either, it's "your 90" and "your 270", you also instinctively know that the latter can be achieved by doing 90 to the left instead of 270 to the right
>They aren't compass directions like "east"
Yeah, I know actual compasses are absolute instead of relative, since things like "west" would be confusing to use as a relative descriptor, you go for west's degree equivalent (270°). Not even videogame compasses are relative, but idk how else to describe it since there are more people who're gonna have used a vidya compass for callouts than an actual compass
>>109066916
Yeah, I've seen this one from older people. I can sort of get it since my struggle with analog clocks is reading minutes and the fact 99% are 12H time.
>>109066917
The best part about this one is that it would be slightly less retarded just by adding "light" between 8 and minutes. Only slightly, enough to disqualify it from screencap material
>>
>>109057617
this one got an actual laugh
>>
>>109066968
that's interesting. you reckon younger people are using degrees for this because they're learning them from video game compasses before/instead of learning how to read a clock?
>>
>>109066968
>The best part about this one is that it would be slightly less retarded just by adding "light" between 8 and minutes. Only slightly, enough to disqualify it from screencap material
even ignoring the wording, he's saying to just move the same speed as the light coming from the sun. if that were even possible, it still wouldn't solve the issue since now the light is not moving relative to the earth, so we still wouldn't see or feel it.
>>
>>109057617
You can't be this productive
>>
>>109067007
That's why I said "slightly"
>If you change it to "8 light minutes per hour" you get an actual speed (that wouldn't fix the issue since it's ~13% the speed of light)
>If you change it to "move away from the sun at light speed, as he probably meant, as you pointed out, it doesn't fix the issue
In essence, what I find amusing is not that one word would make it a reasonable argument, but that the screencap probably wouldn't exist if he did add it, it'd probably be one of the many arguments that happen here daily and are forgotten even by those involved
>>109066990
It picked up momentum around the time battle royale exploded in popularity, about 10-ish years ago, so maybe, the oldest I've seen using it are 24 year olds which would've been 14, and a 14 year old in 2016 would already be in "didn't interact with analog clocks much when growing up", I'm 22 and sure didn't
