Youtube wasn't invented in the 1960s. I doubt he did that many television interviews either.

Why did you make this thread then?

BECAUSE I WANT VIEDOS OF RITCHIE NOT THOMPSON

he has some interviews, but be aware that ken was the real force behind everything that got out of Bell Labs at that time, others were mere extenders of his works, based on what dmr himself said
>Obviously, the person who had most influence on my career was Ken Thompson. Unix was basically his, likewise C’s predecessor, likewise much of the basis of Plan 9 (though Rob Pike was the real force in getting it together). And in the meantime Ken created the first computer chess master and pretty much rewrote the book on chess endgames. He is quite a phenomenon.

both, he was an alien

it's not a video, but after googling a bit i landed on
http://www.gotw.ca/publications/c_family_interview.htm

really interesting to read how ritchie, stroustrup and gosling think about their languages. also gosling with the life advice lol
>There's this principle about moving, when you move from one apartment to another apartment. An interesting experiment is to pack up your apartment and put everything in boxes, then move into the next apartment and not unpack anything until you need it. So you're making your first meal, and you're pulling something out of a box. Then after a month or so you've used that to pretty much figure out what things in your life you actually need, and then you take the rest of the stuff -- forget how much you like it or how cool it is -- and you just throw it away. It's amazing how that simplifies your life, and you can use that principle in all kinds of design issues: not do things just because they're cool or just because they're interesting.

also, what's wrong with stroustrup

Q: Is there room and/or market demand for a new language in the C family?
>Stroustrup: I think the user community would be best served by a single language providing low level support for systems programming. I think C++ would serve well there and I see no technical problems merging C and C++.
>Gosling: I think it would be a tragic statement of the universe if Java was the last language that swept through.
