very annoying how it asks to be updated 100 times a day. are there any alternatives? real alternatives, ie with the same github integration, live preview, etc.
>>
>>109064172
Makes me real fucking suspicious with how much this piece of shit updates. The fuck are they doing?

Usecase for any of that? CudaText, Geany or Kate has all you need.

Troonware somehow worse than VSlopcode

work? i need to push shit through github and the live servers/previews are just self explanatory. do none of the programs you mentioned do this basic shit? wtf
>>
>>109064207
>Troonware somehow worse than VSlopcode
I am using it since release and it's not worse than VSCode, you just never really used it is what it's telling me.
>>109064219
>anything written in rust gives me the creeps
better than a code editor inside a browser
>>
>>109064263

not that anon but honestly... the lack of proper monorepo git tracking support pisses me off, I want to see my changes at a glance. Also, there is no simple warning/error tab, it's like its own page, very annoying. and honestly, they should just give us an option to get the same layout as vscode. I have to keep a tab of vscode open if I want to do things quickly when needing help from coworkers or presenting them code. little things that make it annoying
>>
>>109064285
>they should just give us an option to get the same layout as vscode
hell no
>I have to keep a tab of vscode open if I want to do things quickly when needing help from coworkers or presenting them code
what has the editor to do with this, I don't get it, you're presenting them the <code> and not the editor
>>

No one here is employed bro

wdym you don't want to updoot 1000 times a day? you thirdie luddite , americaaa fuck yeeaa
>>
>>109064285
exactly. why bother with le speed and native Vim if your layout alone makes me slower? there are many reasons to hate on VS Code but the UI isn't one of them.

is your company not using Vite?
and if you really need live preview, here this shit is what every extension is based on: https://yarnpkg.com/package?q=http%20server&name=http-server
>>

nocoder or vibe slopper detected.
every real programmer uses hotkeys and shortcuts
>>
>>109064256
If you don't know how to "push shit through github" you're unqualified for your "work".
>live previewer
ah, webshit, lmao. Try an IDE maybe, I'd look into Bluefish.
Also if your employer encourages you to use VSCode then suck it up and use VSCode.
>>
>>109064172
Can't you just turn off the updates?

What's a good IDE with fast C# auto completion? That's all I need
>>
>>109064442
I don't use Windows anymore but the last time I did, the whole OS was a spaghetti of cloud dependencies where if you run one thing, it turns on Windows updates and updates all things. You don't simply turn off updates on that OS.
>>
>>109064547
I meant only for VS Code
I run mine fully offline with it blocked on firewall level, but OP still wants to use network features so if he can just block the updates it should be fine, no need to keep updating it constantly
>>
>>109064187
it's a corporate product, they don't actually have any reason to update it but the people working on it have to add more slop because that's what they get paid for.

>>109064172
vim, unironically. come home white man. yes you can have git integration. yes you can have live previews for your webslop. yes you can have LSP autocomplete. yes you can have AI integration. just "pluginmaxx" if you're a fucking baby.
>>
>>109064472
never happened to any dev where I work at and we all use different editors, we have people with Zed, JetBrains products and VSCode

Litterally VSCodium with updates disabled, update manually whenecer you want.

As a bonus you get to effectively remove all the inbuild MS bullshit

>>109064195
Ah, yes, the editor which T&C's allow their company to snoop whatever you're writing for training their models.

Not even VSCode has such bullshit license
>>
>>109064547
That doesn't happen on Windows 7, howthoughever.
I run vscode on win7 and just turned off the auto updoot. It doesn't bother me for updoots at all.

I just wish the open source C# server was as fast as the MS one, that's the only reason I stick with actual VS code (even if fully offline)
The autocompletion suggestions are just too slow to be usable on medium to large projects

https://zed.dev/terms#41-zeds-use-of-customer-data

> Customer hereby grants Zed a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid-up, non-sublicensable (except to service providers and Customer’s designees), non-transferable (except as set forth in Section 15.1) right to use, copy, store, disclose, transmit, transfer, display, modify, create derivative works from, collect, access, store, host, or otherwise process (“Process”) any materials that Customer inputs into or otherwise makes available to the Service (including prompts and other written content) (collectively, “Customer Data”) solely: (a) to perform its obligations set forth in the Terms, including its Support obligations as applicable; (b) to derive and generate Telemetry (see Section 4.4); and (c) as necessary to comply with applicable Laws. Except as required by applicable Laws, Zed will not provide Customer Data to any person or entity other than Customer’s designees (including pursuant to Section 7) or service providers. In the event that autocomplete suggestions are turned on, Customer understands and agrees that the Service will periodically send Customer Data in the background to an AI Provider for the purpose of generating autocomplete input suggestions in the Services. Autocomplete features can be turned off at any time, in which case Customer Data will not be sent.

but all the T&C are filled with legalese bullshit.
