VLC sissies... it's over. After being an adamant defender of VLC for the past 2 decades I recently started streaming movies over my home network and had to swallow the truth and switch over to mpv. VLC just keeps glitching and buffering whilst mpv works flawlessly. I'm sorry xisters...

Did you manually change the theme to dark mode before 3.0.23? Uninstall and reinstall if so.

VLC is the field ration you throw to the soldiers, MPV is the proper food made in the proper base that was built.

The video player debates on /g/ are dumb because we're comparing apples to oranges.
MPV is the best, except your supposed to use it with a front-end like SMPlayer. It's like using MuPDF directly when Sumatra or your desktop's interface has it built in. The only people who should use MPV directly are autists who live in tiling window managers and spend all day configuring Emacs.
MPC-HC is peak on Windows except it hasn't been updated in a decade. You're supposed to use whatever the current fork is called.
VLC is mediocre bloatware. You will likely never use most of it's features and it's not particularly good at anything.

VLC is not an airport. You don't have to announce your departure.
MPV is not an AA meeting. You don't have to share your life struggles that lead you there.
This is why MPV dropping Windows support will be great beyond the technical aspect. No more wintards feeling obliged to share their life story.

if not for stories like OP, I'd still be suffering with vlc. if it bothers you that much, you can just move along, you know?
>>
Just downloaded mpv because of your post, and as far as I can tell it doesnt even support casting to a chromecast device. Completely useless. What a shame. Also, the UI sucks ass. It looks like a terminal app - but with a window. Utterly shameful

mpv natively has seek bar and audio track + subtitle selection, what more GUI do you need?
>>
I switch between both due to OS
mpv on Windows because VLC takes forever to open up
VLC on Debian because audio is distorted on mpv
mpv on Arch just because

Why'd you want to do such a thing
