Is 2026 going to be the year of the framework laptop?
>>
>>109074944
No
>>
>>109074944
Yes. You just just don't know it yet.
>>
Yes. Mogs Dell in terms of quality, Lenovo in terms of price, and Apple in terms of operating system
>>
>>109074944
expensive lego toys for predditors. what does this offer that other laptops don't? I can get cheap chink parts for any other laptop that's not a macbook. I don't like the stupid "modular" port gimmick.
>>
>>109075167
this is basically the fate of anything claiming to be "modular" or "minimalistic", expensive or not. it either turns into some tacky bloated novelty that people insist is "modular" because it throws the peasants carrots, or it's some extremely cumbersome ultra-minimalist bullshit that people insist is the "right way" to do things when in reality nobody was ever doing it that way

More like Year of the $2026 Framework Laptop
And that's just the base Pro config, God forbid you ask for more RAM and more CPU.
>>
>>109074944
public boardview or they should stop larping about right to repair shit
>>
>Years later
>Still don't ship to Japan
Not for me it's not.
>>
It's just a more hipster Macbook, down to having glorified proprietary USB-C dongles and upselling it as "modular I/O". And yes, those are USB-C dongles as they'll work on any non-Framework device, meaning that you have to pay for what's essentially USB-C passthrough modules to connect standard USB-C dongles to their proprietary slots if you don't want to fiddle with them.

One of the worst brand cults in the space, other being Noctua. Same mentality of getting a superior product, while in reality you're overpaying for something that was already done better by other companies for less.
>>
>>109074944
>more expensive than MacBooks
lmao
>>
>>109076037
at least with noctua you know you are overpaying for marginal gain
not for supporting agenda that the company doesnt even believe themselves in the truest sense
>>
>>109075993
you're too retarded and poor to pay 50$ and 30 minutes of your time for a shipping forwarding company?
>>
>still no reason to buy one of these over a macbook or thinkpad
no
>>
>>109074944
I will likely only ever own Dell, Lenovo, and HP laptops. Laptops are free, they aren't something you pay for as an individual. The world is swimming in perfectly serviceable ewaste.
>>
>>109074944
They need an improved 16 inch model. the butt module is stupid and ugly, and so is the modular keyboard deck. It needs to be a single plate, with maybe a keyboard you can change.
>>
id rather buy a macbook than pay them $100 for usb ports
>>
framework sucks, is a shitty company, I would never give them a dime. They are overpriced and the idea of 'upgrading' your laptop is mentally retarded
>>
>>109074944
I've had a MacBook for 5 years and never in that time did I want to upgrade anything on it. Maybe it made sense in the past decades when tech rapidly improved but now you're not going to be upgrading frequently

>£1200 for the absolute base spec Framework 13 with 8GB RAM & 512GB
Lol what are they smoking to be charging these prices.
>>
Masha'allah
>>
>>109074944
2026 is already over and Framework has not done anything cool
>>
>>109076167
the selling point is getting replacement parts
you really gonna do that for each part you order retard?
>>
>>109075993
if I were you I'd just get a used thinkpad or lets note and call it a day
>>
>>109075167
>repairable computers are reddit
Contrarianism is not a valid substitute for a personality.
>>
>>109076167
considering the people that order them have a lot of stories of returns/warranty/support claims due to poor quality of the shell, good luck with that

this computer may have started out with noble intentions, but in its current state its just luxury beliefs manifested into a laptop

the 4 built in dongles are cute but wait until you see how manufacturers have gotten around that by baking all the ports you would need to already be in the laptop

the fanboys easily confuse repairability with upgradeability. most enterprise laptops can more or less be repaired when you get them used, but not upgraded.

tldw; too expensive
>>
>>109074944
As much as I'd like to fund more noble causes like this considering all the literal trash plastic """thin""" laptops being churned out now with any kind of metal casing being a luxury.
Unfortunately they already were pricey to get and the rampocalypse essentially makes them for richfags only
>>
>>109076167
you are talking to an autistic amerimutt larping as japanese
>>
>>109074944
Got a FW13 2 years ago, perfectly servicable for my usecase. Just got the basic shell and everything else third-party. Might get the touch screen since I have to give online presentations.

except nobody designed computers to be "repairable" 20 years ago, they just were. show don't tell, it's a total marketing gimmick

“I don’t want to use a MacBook” really isn’t much of a business plan.
>>
No. It's the year of the MacBook Neo.
