Telegram slowing everything down to a trickle today. Painful.
I mentioned my phone adventures in passing in the previous thread. I'll do a bit of storytelling since I'm bored. When I was 11 or 12 years old, sometime in 2000-2001, I was a little dumbass kid in a small town. I wanted to be a hacker but I had no clue how to even start. I turned my attention to payphones. How could I get free calls on them? I knew about dialing 800 numbers for free on payphones and I'd hunt down ones that were prank call worthy from scan txts I found on the internet. But there was only so much enjoyment to be had from harassing people that were trying to do their jobs. You could imagine how much trouble we could have caused if we found the AT&T Easy Reach 800 numbers back then...I read all the 80s phreaking Textfiles from textfiles.com and tried every COCOT exploit they mentioned. I finally had some success. Next to this gas station that burned down in an empty lot there was a still functioning COCOT. If you could call any free number (800 number, operator) and get them to hang up then wait 1-2 minutes you would get a dialtone. This would allow you to call any local number for free. We spent hours calling the houses of kids we didn't like from school and Burger King. The manager of the Burger King would rage at us and cuss us out. I think it was actually my aunt lmao.Even after I got unrestricted unlimited broadband internet access I kept spending hours at payphones. I really miss them.
>>109080487>Telegram slowing everything down to a trickle today. Painful. That's your mistake, use Briar or bust
>>109080718When all the files I want are on there I will
>>109080566The COCOT we abused was still standing on Google Maps as of 2011. I am pretty sure the line was dead at this point because the last time I returned to this site it was and I'm pretty sure it was before then. By 2015 it's gone.
Can we share our keys?
>>109081077Sure, thank you anon
Now I feel the urge to mass dial the numbers in the towns I grew up in and make recordings of up to 1 minute of whoever and whatever answers. I need to find some sip credentials.
>>109079252How does it work?
>>109081008are there any digital phone tricks known to the scene
>>109083359Kinda feels like we're in the bad times. Entry level advice is get a Google Voice number and fuck around with that. But there used to be fun stuff like sip providers that would let you dial toll free numbers without registration, and you could even do that on Skype including to unusual destinations like the UK or Australia. But these things are drying up. I'd be happy if I could find a way to do it again because I make extensive use of them.
>"free" VPN on firefox>have to log in Aren't you just linking your account to the vpn for easier surveying and tracking?btw firefox fox is now a cute moeblob
>>109083741If it's a Firefox extension it's probably a proxy, not a VPN, even though that's what they call it. Even though it's "free" they add you to their residential proxy botnet. Great racket huh? You get to use their shitty data center IPs while they sell your traffic to AI scrapers and criminals.https://www.vpngate.net/en/If you want a free VPN that isn't shady. It keeps logs but you get what you pay for bro.
>>109083672Doing more research into this and it seems the STIR/SHAKEN legislation may be the cause of this. So basically it's the fault of pajeet scammers that we can't have a phone network that's as porous as it used to be. I understand all the reasons but fuck me if it doesn't feel bad.
>>109082204You install it, it makes its interconnection to several servers and voila! Protected internet
>>109084437Does it have as many sites as tor?
Is it worth alienating yourself out so hard to glow like a sore thumb in a field full of normies? Isn't a mix of hardcore privacy + not giving a shit the best way to not stick out?
>>109084723Fighting everything all the time is like pissing upstream. Trying to fit everything under the sun into your threat model is a waste of time. Protect what matters.
>>109084723Why not protect yourself to the max when you can? Also why do you give a fuck about normalfaggots? They can all burn since its their fault the internet is ruined like it is.
