And it's 100% worthless since the telemarketers have learned they can use fake numbers supplied by the phone company by taking advantage of the anonymous number feature that was designed for abused women trying to avoid ex-husbands or stalkers. They get a different number every time they call, and the phone companies don't really keep track of who was using what anonymous number.Even worse, the phone companies sometimes give the numbers of real people. Ever get an angry phone call from someone demanding to know why you were calling them? It's because of this. The telemarketer got assigned your number, and the person they spam-called called the number back hoping to yell at the telemarketer and got you instead.Only legit telemarketing operations still use legit numbers, and they won't call people on the do not call list. All you get these days are the ones using the anonymous number system.Oh, and the phone companies aren't going to do shit about it, since the telemarketing centers pay far more for bulk lines and the anonymous feature than average customers just getting a number.
