>ViewSonic has launched the VX24G26J-4K, a 23.8-inch gaming monitor with a 3840×2160 resolution and 160 Hz refresh rate. This is a rare combination for this size class, where most gaming monitors still use 1080p panels.>The monitor is part of the VX series and uses a Fast IPS panel. At 23.8 inches and 4K resolution, it reaches 185 PPI, which is higher than a 27-inch 4K monitor at around 163 PPI. This should make text and desktop use sharper, although gaming at native 4K will still require a capable GPU.>The VX24G26J-4K supports 1 ms GtG response time, 1000:1 contrast, 400 nits brightness and 8-bit color. ViewSonic lists 100% sRGB, 95% DCI-P3 and 95% Adobe RGB coverage. The monitor also has HDR10 support and VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification>ViewSonic is also using what it calls a Nano Obsidian Screen. The company says this is a glossy low-reflection coating with 1.8% reflectance. The monitor supports Adaptive-Sync and is listed with AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync compatibility. Other features include black level stabilization, crosshair overlays, ViewMode presets, hardware low blue light and flicker-free operation.>For connectivity, the VX24G26J-4K has one DisplayPort 1.4 port, two HDMI 2.1 ports and a headphone output. The stand supports height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustment. VESA 100×100 mm mounting is also supported>The monitor is currently listed in China. Chinese listings show a 2,199 RMB price, which is around $306 before tax. ViewSonic has not announced US or EU pricing yet, and there is no confirmed launch date outside China.https://videocardz.com/newz/viewsonic-launches-worlds-first-23-8-inch-4k-160hz-ips-gaming-monitor
>>109084517>DisplayPort 1.4Nigger
>>109084523Just cap it to 120hz or use hdmi
>>109084517High refresh gaming on 4k is retarded, you need 5090.5k 220 ppi is better.
>>109084517why do you need high refresh rate, 60hz is enough for everything.. games are smooth at 60hz if you compare to 25hz.. smooth as butter, i never seen one of those high hz monitors, always had 60hz and it seems enough
>>1090846135090 is too slowyou need a 6090 for that
>>109084517Finally, Eizo and ViewSonic are the originalfags of the monitor space.
>>109084517>24 inch>4kWhat is this, a monitor for ants?
>>1090847966090 IS NOT ENOUGHyou need protogent
Imagine being so technologically illiterate that you get excited over the equivalent of a 12" 1080p screen.
>retards have genuinely started to believe ppi is the same as resolution
>>109084549Not good enough. I need at least 125Hz for Quake 3.
>>109084517Do you look at these from 3 inch distance or with binoculars or something? 24" is barely enough for 1080p, for 4k at desktop viewing distance you'd need something like 42".
This is ideal if you want a nicer looking 1080p workspace using 200% scaling. I use 4K 27" at 175% since 200 is too big and I prefer the extra space, but it's good that they're making this.
>>109084523why are you so obsessed with niggers, anon?
>>109084613Only if you play AAA dogshit.I'll enjoy my Morrowind and other old trash at 4k 120hz+.
>>109084851>What is this, a monitor for ants?I was using a 24" 4K monitor a decade ago. Even then UI scaling was only occasionally an issue. And all it does is make your legacy software look slightly blurry.>>109086319>I use 4K 27" at 175% since 200 is too big and I prefer the extra space150% is the sweet spot.
>still hasn't solved VRR flickerworthless
>>109084613There are things to play other than AAA garbage, retard. Playing older games at 120Hz+ at 4K is both possible and a great experience on a mid-range card.
>>109088653>150% is the sweet spot.100% is the "sweet spot". Anything beyond that is full retard, because you are wasting most of your pixels for the sake of higher res text.
>>109084517This thing is perfect me.
>>109084851>macOS>LinuxNo issue with ui scaling>Windows>fucked up ui scalingwhy?
>>10908485124" is the perfect size for a monitor
>>109089439Could you explain your reasoning beyond "when I was a kid that's how big my monitor was, so clearly that's the optimal size". Thanks.
>At 23.8 inches and 4K resolution, it reaches 185 PPI, which is higher than a 27-inch 4K monitor at around 163 PPI. I promise all of you pixel density is far better than screen size. I'd get that over 4K27" any day.Good thing non-crapple 5K27" exists now which I will be upgrading to
>>109089439nah, it's 27"
>>109089583>I promise all of you pixel density is far better than screen sizeIt isn't, a properly sized screen is 100x better than the high DPI meme, which was invented by crapple because they were too stupid to invent cleartype.>I'd get that over 4K27" any day. Why? I mean that seriously here, let's say you sit 3 feet away from your monitor. Well, you could just move 4.5 inches back, and you would have the same experience on a 27" monitor compared to a 24". Where is the value, you don't have to push your monitor back a whole 4 inches?
>>109089640I'd rather not change how I've sat at my desk forever to compensate my monitor's low PPI. I've seen the light of high density clarity and I'm never going back. 4K27" was insanely better than 4K32". These are used for computers not TVs, I'm looking at text over 80% of the time and clarity is far more important than raw screen size.
>>109084517>buying non-miniled lcd in 2026No wonder is it's for China only
>>10908451732" 1440p is the sweet spot
>>109089702Moving the monitor 4 inches is that huge of a change for you? Man, that autism must be rough.I've used tiny 4k, I find it appalling. It's like they didn't understand the entire concept of resolution, and instead used it to make text look slightly nicer. Not clearer, nicer. For small, handheld devices, I understand high DPI. The screen is the limit to begin with, you might as well have 300 DPI in an e-reader, because you don't want a larger screen. On a desk? I'm sorry, but you're just fucking retarded if you want a smaller screen.
>>109089439>>109089623I use a 22-inch panel, when I watch porn on it I feel the cock sizes are just right
>>109089540I have 2 x 24" monitors next to each other, I would have to make the Exorcist move when the monitors were bigger
>>109084517>24inch 4kWtf???It's already difficult to aim at enemies farther away than 10m with a 27" or 32", that's without counting the shittiness having to use integer scaling or bilinear scaling on 2d games that are mostly 720p or 1080p native, leaving you with having to use no scaling centered if you don't want blocky or blurry graphicsYou're a ding dong if you buy that shit when you can buy 32" 1440p or gigachad >=48" 4k
>>109089938If you had one 48" monitor, you would be moving your head just as much.
>>109089982check your eyes and brain.
>>109089982> 93 PPIterrible>48" 4ka TV, terrible
>>109084517>>109084523I've been gaming at 4k 240hz ever since the PG32UCDM releasedcope more poorfags
>>109090064>DSCcould never be me
>>109084517>24”lmao, what kind of thirdy shack home do you people live in
>>109084517That sounds worse than my monitor (TV). I have a LG C4 OLED monitor which is 4k 144hz 42", it supports freesync, hdr and all that with higher peak brightness than that monitor. I bought it for around $800 (in europe) 2 years ago.
>>109090298>OLED>freesync
Wake me up if 16:10 ever makes a comeback
>>109084517>not oledFucking garbage e-waste,why would you waste your money on this
>>109090063>terribleIt's actually insane good with pixel art>at tv, terribleLG C1s had barely sub 5ms latency in pc + game optimizer mode with virtually instant transitions excluding near black overshoot when brightness is reduced to minimumThe size makes FPS games more immersive(less high fov distortion) and it encourages more healthy eye movement, you can also just put the tv farther away if its just too close for you improving eye healthiness too. It also makes sniping far away(100m) without a sniper scope much less unnecessarily difficult than on a 32inch or 27 incher, on a 24inch it's basically impossible without shoving it close to your eyes like a smartphone>>109090058Already done i don't have myopia or hypermetropism, however you should check yourself if you don't see the problems with upscaling native 720p 1080p non pixel art 2d content with integer scaling or standard gpu filtering(or even lanczos/whatever, it's never as good as no scaling, that's just how subpixel grids work)>>109090298>lg c4How did you survive using this tv without getting seizures from the pwm dithering or not seeing the cpc vignetting?
1620p at 27" would be fucking perfect but those motherfuckers refuse to make one.
>>109089130>>109089730The nice thing is everybody gets to choose whether they want more space or better looking text. I don't need more space so why not increase scaling?
I use a 24 inch portable uperfect monitor like pic related. They cost more than a regular monitor but only require a single USB-C cable connection for display + power. Integrated kickstand so you can fold it up and move it if you live in a small space and have to use desks for multiple purposes. I'm a fan.
>>109084517>185 PPIToo low. Retina or fuck off.
>>109084523Dead on arrival.Expect nothing more from ViewSonic. They're a scam company.>>1090846135120x2880 is nice, but we don't have the ports for it to be high refresh rate. We have the computational power (just don't play AAA slop, it's that easy, literally) but are still limited by bandwidth.3840x2160 240Hz on the other hand is doable with what's on the market though so releasing a 4K screen with crippled ports (not using the ones already in mass production for years) is downright disgusting and should be illegal. We are so cucked that it is easier to run multiple screens in a grid than a single monitor with adequate resolution and refresh rates. This shit is a joke to the monitor manufacturers. They get off on selling garbage.
>>109084851> 24" 4k is just retina without the zoom tax. you're the one who can't see shit.
>>109084959> imagine paying for a screen that can't even do 4k at 27 incheslmao, enjoy your 2020 tech, anon.
>>109084517>24">4kwhy4k at 27" is about the sweet spot without completely wasting pixel density, I'd rather have 1440p @ 24" with a 240hz rate
Nice, within spitting distance of that 200PPI markFontlets confused and enraged as expected
>>109085078The closer your eye is to the screen the better you play.
>>109084613even 1080p 120hz is better than 5k 60hz
>>109089328macOS' UI shits itself on anything that's not 5K or 1440p and needs you to get third-party software to make it look good
>>109089702Been saying this for years to 4K32 shitters. Been about over a decade since I've made out a pixel on all my screens for CAD work and coding.
>>109089982i get what you mean as well, i can spot targets on both 24 and 27 fine but i've always wondered if it takes even more cognitive fatigue to constantly do it on a 24 than 27. same deal as lightweight gaming mouse i play longer and flick faster without fatigue setting in earlier. hoping to get proper responses outside of the typical get your eyes checked or go to the gym sneers.
For me, it's 1440p 240Hz so I can do max settings + RT + MFG 2x or 3x with my 5070Ti without overshooting the max refresh rate
usecase?
>>109090548>Wake me up if 16:10 ever makes a comebackThere are some 3:2 monitors available.
I didn't read the thread but isn't 4K going to look tiny on a 24" screen?
>>109095433>I didn't read the thread but isn't 4K going to look tiny on a 24" screen? You can change your UI scaling to compensate.
I'll stick to my 32inch 4k 60hz HDR monitor that I got for 300 bucks.
>>109095550Which means that you're paying 4k prices for 1080p real estate.
>>109084851Imagine 1080p but crisper because you run it at 200% text zoom
>>109095418No VESA mount and it was discontinued last time I checked. Into the trash it goes.
>>109084517I don't get it, ASUS sells loads of >240hz 4k monitors.
