I have an old matx case without the optical drives since 2009. How much better are new cases? They used to be $20-$30 so I didn't want to spend $100 more, did anyone switch?

9 years. I was going to replace it with something newer, but most cases I like are a bit too wide for my taste.
>>
>>109089043
like 1 year old it came out last year
>>
i used an antec for like 12 years and switched over to a fractal torrent
thermals have definitely gotten better i guess
i'll probably be sticking with the case for another 10 years so paying ~130ish for it isn't too bad over that period
>>
>>109089043
19 years but the next build is going to be in a new case because these old mid-towers can't fit new GPUs. It's just difficult to find good cases these days that have front bays and disk mount points

unrelated but i really like the design of this case. probably have no use for it, but it just looks like it means business

I hardly keep any tech for more than 5 years. But you can find old cases for cheap on Amazon. They're brand new and work perfectly fine for modern computers. I assume it's just backlog in some warehouse.
Been eyeing picrel for my next build.
>>
>>109089043
Like 10 years old I think.
>>
>>109091327
How do you find them? What do you search for?
>>
Bought mine this January. Compared to my older builds it was nice that a lot of the cables were pre-routed and pretty much all the screws were toolless. Also nice magnetic dust screen is very easy to clean
>>
>>109091736
Do you like the clear cases? I wanted metal to be quieter, I thought glass or plastic was worse.
>>
>>109091708
I kind of just find these things because I'm really picky and have a list of requirements so I get exactly what I want.
For this case I actually found it on the same listing as another search where I was trying to find an HTPC case that is slim like a console but still has a disc drive.
>>
>>109089547
Too bad they retardedly put usb ports and shit on the top.
Otherwise, it makes a nice end table
>>
>>109089519
Aren't they bad for airflow?
>>
>>109093144
depends on the version. some will have 2x 120mm and at least 2x80mm. and for the DIYer, they can be modded to hold more fans.

I have picrel with the black/silver color scheme on the left because it was the only one I could buy domestically here in the US while the other two in white/silver and all black can only be found in Japan for some reason.
It's an In Win BL634 MicroATX slim form factor case. I'm not sure if this is the aesthetic you're looking for exactly but I've been happy with it and it does have a 5.25" drive bay and 3.5" drive bay.

Try as I might I keep returning to this fucking slab.

It's dead silent most of the time. Just get bigger fans, much bigger impact on noise than the case
>>
>>109093418
Oh yeah that's perfect actually. Not modern minimalist crap but also doesn't stand out.

17 years with an antec p193, and I'll never change it because modern cases don't have space for SSDs/HDDs anymore

Three years. I had a P180 for 16 years before that, but I wanted to switch to MicroATX. I did hold on to my old build in case I change my mind later.

New cases are all fucking garbage. Like few other anons in this thread, I went out of my way to find an older one, because they just don't make anything utilitiarian anymore, only glass box gamer rgb vomit clown aquarium fashion statements. I want a BIG FUCKING FRONT FAN and MANY 5.25" BAYS.
My choice was the Phanteks Enthoo Pro from 2014, though I'm really mirrin even older SGI cases now.

Friend got a picrel and I've been jealous of it ever since

4 years, I always buy a new case for new computers. Unfortunately my dad gutted/discarded my first two computers, but the others are still sitting next to me.
>>
>>109089731
I just got an flp02 thats based off this case and it's awesome.

Same here but with the P183, there's just NOTHING as well built as these cases. Unfortunately I'm stuck with the normal version, not the V3, so changing coolers is a chore and there's no USB3.

It makes for a wonderful server case though, I have a mATX board and an SBC both running at the same time in it. Wish I could afford more HDDs to put in it too.

My case is literally negative age

I bought some budget case shilled in the Pc building thread a couple years ago. It wasn't flimsy, but it had terrible fitment and getting the sides back on was a nightmare.

>>109091327
I had one of these back when they were new. The fitment is fine but they're made of rubbish. If you drop a book on it, it's gonna dent. I like the style of older cases though.
>>
5 year old Meshify C. I can't see myself changing it for another 5 years, it's pretty nice desu.
>>
I was planning on reusing an old 2009 matx gateway computer case again but I'll just get a new matx case since it's 17l instead of 35-40l
>>
17 years
I hate cases, they could all be replaced by a box made from perforated metal sheets.
>>
>>109102817
I'd love to drill the standoffs on mine and then put it on some wood or metal sheeeeeeet
