IRC is, has been, and always will be, a much more superior alternative to Discordbloatware.
Sleeker, faster, open source, more configurable, less centralised...

Talk to people in real life. In video game language, talking to people online is like grinding level 2 goblins for 10,000 hours.
Whereas talking to people in real life is like using the most updated, meta, efficient pathway to a terminal end goal, getting to the same point as the aforementioned in 500 hours.

No one with a satisfactory social life in the real world uses online chat apps, unless they're talking to people they know in real life.

Also do you really think she loves me? That would be nice.

IRC

>>109089800
IRC, if you aren't okay with IRC there's nothing else so stay on Discord
>>
>>109089800
matrix, just remove the mossad servers ie all the default/normie ones
>>109089934
She said discord not whatsapp
>>109090004
>>109090019
Yes but you need to add a tls proxy, tor is banned on most servers and clearnet registration is cuckold maxxing.
>>
>>109089800
Despite what everyone says. No. There isnt a service available that is that feature rich and normie friendly. There are plenty that do some things well, but none that do all. Its up to you to find something with the right compromise that people you want to communicate will actually use. If you are heavily involved with public communities, you are most likely sol.

What are you trying to do? Gayming groupchats? Most gaymes have those built in, plus teamspeak is not dead yet aparently.
If you want to drag a bunch of people over, they'd usually stay where they are. Everyone uses discord because everyone uses discord. Even though it's pure shit.
>>
>>109089800
back in my day we used steam chat
>>
back in my day we used to talk inside the game
if you didn't have my IM you weren't cool enough
>>
>>109089800
Unfortunately no. It seems like everyone moved to discord ubiquitously
It's unfortunate but I guess it is what it is.
>>
Just use a forum.

>IRC
Whatever happened to it braodcasting your IP to everyone (not complaining, honestly asking)? Also, are there still those DDL bots?
>>
>>109089800
No and there never will be stop asking and start roping faggots.
>b-b-but!
We already all know how this is going to go.
>I want everything and I want it for free or it isn't a competitor!
>>
Why can't we just have IRC without the retardness from the 80s, I mean enforced use of vhost, no activity timeouts and chat history, native file support, etc...
Every damn new chat system has to be this super secure E2E, decentralized, federalized clusterfuck that justs steers people back to discord.

Hosting your own Mumble server for VOIP/text.
FTP for file sharing.
Rumble/Kick/Twitch/YT/TT/Insta/Facebook for livestreaming.
>>
discord killed the internet
discord IS the alternative
>>
>>109089800
Yes! It's called not having friends.
>>
>>109093096
Nice zoomer take, very trendy, which video essay did you get that opinion from?
>>
>>109089800
discord is not unique in any way.
you can run a vnc server on the default port, and you will be spied on by half the world within seconds. this solution is actually clearly superior, as it's much more scalable and interoperable.
>>
>>109089800
Matrix, with any homeserver not named matrix.org.
>>
>>109089800
>You just message
Signal
>You hang out in voice chat
Matrix
>You want to share your screen 6 hours a day
Not really.
>>
fluxer is basically discord circa 2018, and seems to be run by an organisation that won't ACK or enshittify its service in the foreseeable future
otherwise just use a third party client for discord or at least use a mod like aliucord for android or vencord for your browser. don't use the desktop version, its electron slop that takes its sweet time to update every 2-3 days

Guys, I've never been on discord, not once. Millennial here, I use telegram, signal and forums. What's the appeal of discord exactly?
>>
>>109098451
it's just super easy to use for normalfags, we're talking about the kind of normalfags that don't know how to unpack zip files and whatnot
>>
>>109098470
What's easy about it? Honest question, I've never even opened it once or seen screenshots of it. Telegram is pretty easy too, no?
>>
>>109089800
no. people are currently working on P2P alternatives.
>>
>>109098481
Discord isn't strictly a messaging app, it's a social platform with network features
It's the zoomer equivalent of what Facebook was for millennials in the 2000s.
>>
>>109098884
Aw sweet another failed P2P/decentralized messenger!
