Redpill me on mpd. What advantage does it offer over a traditional music player like Strawberry?
it lets you play music through a terminal curses interface (very cool and interesting for the transexual/indian mind) instead of a Qt/GTK interface
>>109091475it's a server
Your music will keep playing even if you shut down your display server, while Strawberry would die and stop playing. How useful is that in 2026? Can't say
>>109091475There are none. Only people that use MPD are either indians, trannies or other larpers that prefer terminal everytime even if it's inconvenient
>>109091770>>109091831You can use it through a GUI thougheverbeit.
When will someone make a winamp frontend for mpd?
>>109091475Strawberry wants unreasonable money for the Windows build.
>>109092300Yep I'm thinking based
>>109092300Based. Cough it up or switch to Linux, paypig.
>>109091475I switched over when I finally stopped daily driving windows (my main music player back then was the zune program, loved that damn thing.) At this point I'm pretty ingrained into the system and it werks well enough that I don't want to touch it too much except I had to change a little bit when I started scrobbling again just recently.
It's a server/daemon, so you can use whatever client you want to control it. Control it through a terminal, through a gui, through a bunch of scripts, whatever the fuck you want. Because it's so adaptable there's probably plugins for status bar info/controls for whatever window manager or desktop environment you're using. It supports seamless playback, crossfading and it also it plays tracker formats which most gui music players don't.In other words it's all complete bullshit, because you weren't going to use any of those anyway. You install it to be a leet hackerman who wants to post his based music tastes in desktop threads.

>>109092300>Windows buildlol. lmao even
>>109092300Us oppressed Linux heads need reparations for the harm yall cause by legitimizing Microsoft's existence.
>>109091475put it on a RPi and you get a streaming server for your audio room. no need for an overpriced audiofool device or for a noisy, power-hungry computer. just play music from your mpd library with a phone. it's pretty good actually.
>>109091475Because it's a server, you can run it silently on start and bind playing a track from a playlist to the play key, pause to the pause key, and cycle playlist to ctrl+play.
>>109091786a really shitty onexmms2 does the server architecture much better and less tedious
>>109096682Where this comes in handy is because fullscreen linux games don't always give up focus very well, so it's nice to have your music bound to a key so you don't have risk fucking up the game.
>>109091475QMMP with a winamp skin of your choice is better
