Ok we get it, vim keybindings are cool and all. But why would you use an ancient, deprecated text editor that lacks all the modern features every employed software developer needs? You do realize these keybindings and modal editing exist as plugins for every IDE worth using?

Time to stop being a trooner and start using a white mans development enviroinment. This is what peak performance looks like.

ive been a software engineer for over 30 years and still edit source files in notepad
there is nothing in an ide that you need to do your job
>>
I use vim (well, nvim now) not because I object to anything modern, but because I object to corpo slop. VSCode, Cursor and even Zed are all corposlop. But also, vim mode gets you there only somewhat. The good thing about vim is how I know exactly what to look for if I need to customize it in some particular way. My biggest problem with vim/nvim is that they're terminal text editors. gvik and neovide kind of bolted on on top of it, so it doesn't feel very native. But it's still better than using corposlop that spies on you and infects you with malware.

The way this retarded thread was made literal days after the "how do I switch from VS to Vim?" thread. /g/eets have such fragile egos
>>
>>109092809
I don't remember where I first heard it but now I live by the motto that OS is the IDE
>>

>deprecated text editor that lacks all the modern features every employed software developer needs?
such as?
i generally write code in emacs and then just debug in an ide

The UNIX Programming Environment

GNU Emacs?

Neovim with Lazyvim has all IDE features and works faster than vshit: debugging, lsp indexing, git integration etc.
>>
>>109092603
I use emacs personally. But I have to use Visual Sneed at work. It sucks ass. It's slow and it shits its pants all the time. Old packages and settings don't work. If you configure Visual Sneed today, you will have to configure it again in two years, or your config might even become impossible. There are lots of little annoyances in Visual Sneed that you simply can't do anything about. You are at their mercy.
>>
>>109092603
because emacs exists
>>
>>109092603
Modern IDE features are too distracting for me. I want to focus on writing code, not trying to figure out what those 300 icons and options mean in Visual Studio.
>>
>>109092603
im too used to neovim to use vscode. it would be like learning vim from scratch again. unironically id probably just use iy
>>
>>109093643
Doesn’t work well for winapi autocomplete and LSP
>>
>Visual Saars Code

no thanks
>>
Daily reminder;

People using Visual Studio and similar IDEs do more work in a day than you do in a year, tinkering with ur *dotfiles*.
>>
>>109092974
so you don't even use vim or emacs
you use vi or ed
>>
>>109095891
you just let AI write it, use your IDE to reformat it, and install a bunch of extensions with security vulnerabilities
>>
>>109094190
Nobody’s talking to you, emacs fag! Why don’t ya gay out with the other butt boys in your containment thread?!
>>
>>109095919
You don’t code lol.

> use your IDE to reformat it
Yeah, that’s totally what an IDE is for, lol!

I'm sorry but it's my god-given right to drop retarded blogposts in any thread I please, and you WILL read them at least partially.

Every text editor utilizes LSP. Their functionality is identical.
>>
>>109092603
I use VSVim or whatever the extension is called.
Also use VSCode and the vim extension for that
>>
>>109096232
Anon, op picrel is literally VsVim.
VsVim is also very lacking when it comes to features, it doesn’t even support the original vim script syntax.

Zed has the best Vim integration I have tried so far

I don't know, I don't use C++

I use vis, to be exact

Vs code is terrible lol the only good thing about it is that it supports pretty much every language via plugins but the language support is like a 6/10 at best.
Get a proper JetBrains IDE and VS Code will feel like a toy (they still support vim keybinds)
>>
>>109097828
Yeah i was about to say, i'm pretty happy with C-Lion.
>>
>>109092603
IDEs are deprecated now.
All you need is an agent harness, cli-driven language build tools, and a nice graphical diff-viewer so you can quickly review/revert changes.
>>
>>109096406
holy fucking based
>>

>agent uses up 100k tokens to write a hello world

Just pay a jeet on upwork at this point.

terminal text editor is a feature, not a bug. if you want native just use kitty or wezterm.

Let me guess, you are the guy who bitches about Python's whitespace syntax.

LMAO
what? Who the fuck told you that? Vim is a meme, nobody cares about that bull shit.
