frys electronics was dogshit for at least 10 years before they closed

my brother bought a motherboard there which was DOA, took it back to exchange for another one which was also DOA, put a marker dot on the bottom and when he exchanged it again, the marker dot confirmed they were just handing back the same shit to make him the next guy's problem
>>
>>109101923
Style. You walk into Circuit City it felt like you were walking into the future or at least the 2000's idea of the future. Best Buy felt like you're walking into a bootleg K-mart.
>>
>>109102086
sorry for my it was sam goodys and fye

>Buy Infocus projector with business CC
>Pay for "insurance" in my name.
>Projector breaks in 6 months. New bulb sent, still broken. Work writes it off, lets me take it.
>Get $800 check that pays for Christmas.
>Buy used mainboard from ebay for $20. Works.
Got a projector, 2 bulbs, and $800 back. RIP, Circuit City.

Fuck CircuitShitty, CompUSA was the bee's knees... That was a *real* computer store.

>>
>>109102086
I liked Fry's but where I live they built it in a shitty part of town, I only went if I really needed something.

Bought my first video camera there. Canon HV20. At the time didn't quite grasp why it was $700 compared to others going for I think $200. But Sears was sold out of the latter, and I didn't want to be bound by the school's media center limitations.
>>
>>109102086

hey i worked at that one in like 2010
>>
>>109101854
i miss working there
>code pink on the headset we were all forced to wear
>every dude employees head in the building turns towards the entrance
>some hot chick just walked in
>wait to see what department she went to
>she’s looking for an ipod hell yeah that’s me
>mack on her and sell the ipod with the protection plan of course
>go to the side of the building with my boss and smoke a fat blunt
>go back inside and fuck around
>get paid $16 an hour in 2007 for all this
what a great job and time that was
>>
>>109105334
I haven't heard the term "mack on" in fucking ages lol

CompUSA

I wanted to work here over the summer when I was 16.
They told me they don’t hire under 18.
By the time I turned 18 they were shut down.
It’s a harbor freight tools now.
I still go inside the HFT and I’m instantly back in 2001

Listen, beans on toast, just because we have the resources where we don't have to live in a narrow row house with no garage and a 1.2L "hot hatch" at the kerb doesn't mean you have to be so angry. The rozzers will nick you for antisocial behaviour and drag you down to the Old Bailey, you know. And then when you get out your council flat will be given over to an underprivileged migrant grooming gang.
>>
>>109102086
Is that the Sacto one? I used to go there.

>>109105035
Shit, if that IS the Sac one then we probably met there at some point, I lived in the area 2009-2013 and went all the time.

>Circuit City
>2007
Fuck, this doesn't match my internal timeline at all. I wonder if my local closed way earlier than the rest, I feel like it was like 2001. The building was still there and still had the red entrance area (this style >>109102134) at least as recently as 3-4 years ago. Maybe I just stopped going to CC after Fry's opened up near me and was closer.

Yeah it was mach later, at least here in the States. I remember buying a PSP 2k model from my local Circuit City back in 2006 or 2007. You could be thinking of Radio Shack, that place disappeared like a ghost. It was also where I got my first PC a few years prior.

I bought my 250GB Xbox 360 Slim at a circuit city in Black Friday. I wandered into the store at around 2PM and they still had half a pallet of them. It was bundled with Halo Reach and two controllers if that gives the date. My white model had red ringed just a few weeks prior. I was in the market.
>>
>>109107691
not sure, i think it was the Friars Road location which was originally built as Incredible Universe prior to their collapse.
>>
>>109104065
I laughed at the moment you started treating circuit city as a dead man

cheaper better deals and more niche stuff
>>109102086
fry's was so much better if I had one near me I would have always went. When one was near me it only lasted like a year or two. loved that place.
>>
>>109107775
I don't get that store I went in once its just a shitty version of best buy. why even bother.
>>
>>109102086
The death of Fry's was really strange. One day, they just sort of quit stocking the shelves and let the stores die.
At least Microcenter is still around and based.
