Ok first thing's first, yes I have brown skin but just hear me out. I bought a 18TB hard drive from BestBuy in 2022 and shucked it when I was putting together my NAS I got a little rough with my large orangutan hands and I broke the drive. Snapped off some pins from the sata connector. So with prices of HDD so high right now I'm thinking of going to bestbuy and buying a new drive, shucking it and replacing the old drive with my busted one. I will tell the employee at customer service that it's broken so they don't try to restock it. Anyone have any experience with this or any tips for me?

>>109103866Yes, just try to be polite. Say "hello, how are you. ", "Could you please" and "thank you". Maybe they at bestbuy know a guy who can mold on some new pins and fix it.

>>109103866I used to rip pc games doing this when I was in high school. The tricky part is the seal on the box. Pc games were easy because it was just a round clear piece of tape, but something like you are doing will have security tape. You might look up a guide on how to get around that problem. Other than that you're golden if you don't fuck that up.
Instead of landing on jail because of fraud why don't you just repair the drive? My brother once broke the plastic part of the connector so I soldered a cable directly.
