I'm done with my 1-2 year long firefox switch.
The performance is just dogshit vs Chromium
What is the best Chromium variant to switch to?
I care about privacy, security etc.
I gave firefox a real chance after Manifest V2 but this isn't going to cut it.
>>
actually fuck it, seems like Thorium is what AI is recommending (for optimized perf and also privacy) so i'll just go with that
feel free to tell me why this is wrong
>>
>>109104052
You seem like a massive simpleton, I will be avoiding whatever choice you land on
Also any posts that don’t say ungoogled are bots
>>
Try Waterfox. It's very fast.
>>
>>109104052
>AI
Why did you kill a thread for this tech support garbage if you are going to ask some faggy AI and blindly listen to it anyway? Fuck off.
>>
>>109104024
>>109104052
I'm using Chromium on Arch
>>
>>109104024
dogshit performance? you must have shitty specs
it's not faster but not noticeably slower on any computer i've used
>>
>>109104141
Some websites are ultra-bloatware and will lag most pcs
One example is the Bunnings website (it's a hardware store in Aus). Absolute webslop. Try using that website on a non-flagship phone and you'll be bleeding out the nose from how fucking laggy it is.
>>
>>109104162
That seems to be the website's problem, not mine.
When they fix their shit I'll considering visitinf them
>>
>>109104102
you seem like a cunt. i asked a question which implies i lack knowledge of a subject and you're already getting super-judgmental. fuck you little trannychud.
>>109104141
i'm on a 2018 laptop with a ryzen 3 and 16gb ram. i shouldn't need to upgrade for a fucking web browser. i don't play games that much on pc anymore so it's not like this is usually a problem for me.
>>
>>109104024
What websites are you visiting that need "performance"? Are you a competitive doom scroller?
>>
>>109104209
email, twitter, youtube. i notice it most when i'm loading an email site like proton. also just tired of shitzilla acting like people don't have choices and won't drop them like a hat.
i thought i'd give them a chance after manifest v2 and they've already worn out their welcome so fuck them
>>
>>109104209
and no i don't strictly "need" performance but why leave it on the table just because of some tranny company not being able to get their shit together and not spending money on improving their code?
i don't owe them anything at this point.
why would you not want to use the fastest open-source browser possible?
>>
>>109104204
>ryzen 3
yiiikes that's rough by western standards :-( but you are probably a king in your dothead village
simpleton poors like you should contain yourselves to the SQT instead of clogging up this board with your banal questions liljeet
>>
>>109104417
is jeet the new migamutt insult? you're still a doormat for jews. i'm not indian btw. i refuse to upgrade because why the fuck would someone upgrade their web browser machine? gonna double down even more on chromium now that trannychuds are triggered enough to start calling me a shitjeet lol
>>
>>109104417
also i'm going to post another thread just to fuck with you. not going to announce what it is but just know that i'm posting it so you feel fucked with.
>>
>>109104473
folks this is what it looks like when someone grows up without having a single friend
>>
>>109104508
keep going if you want, i have plenty more ideas for shitpost threads
already got 2 up
>>
>>109104024
i think helium is nice project for chromium based browser, it takes the best of different projects
but still my main is regular firefox with arkenfox
>>
>>109104541
>keep going if you want
lol no denial, yes keep that R3 laptop forever it's going to be the only thing that never leaves you
>>
>>109104590
gotta say there's a lot to appreciate about whatever philosophy the Thorium devs have going
LTS as a base is smart
and then they simply optimize it
makes it maintainable long term and less likely they'll abandon it
>>
>>109104616
i'm on my 4th one now, kek
>>
>>109104448
seethe and cope jeet
>>
>>109104844
>a jeet would call themselves a shitjeet
not that i expect troons to be logical, but cmon..
>>
how do i configure ungoogled chromium like a normal browser? it keeps deleting cookies and logging out sessions when i close it
i already enabled allow cookies in settings but doesn't work
>>

>i'm on a 2018 laptop with a ryzen 3 and 16gb ram
Close tabs when you're done, retard.
>>
>>109105439
idle tabs in a browser hasn't mattered for a long time now. it doesn't affect performance as much as a shitty browser does.
idk if there's any point even discussing this with people who haven't tried thorium yet. i feel like a cachyos user trying to convince a debian user his OS is slow.
>>
>>109104024
If you have access to Trivalent, its Vanadium but for desktop Linux, works well.

If not, Chrome is probably your best bet if looking for security and then maybe use this guide to harden and make it more privacy respecting

>>109105394
install from here https://chromium.woolyss.com/#browsers if you use ungoogled builds download a crx extractor so you can "load unpack" extensions since you can't install them directly from the chrome store. find mv2 extensions here https://www.crx4chrome.com/
>>
cromite theoretically, but it publishes builds infrequently
brave realistically
>>
>>109105846
>cromite theoretically, but it publishes builds infrequently
i'm starting to appreciate LTS browsers. i hate updating, and no one will bother to hack me.
>>
>>109105821
>gorillions of steps just to install a fucking extension
i think i'm sticking with firefox
>>
>>109104162
>Some websites
Post'em and stop being a bitch.
>>
>>109104024
I use Firefox for work since 10 years. Jira, Confluence, Devops, WebEx, Miro and all that shit. No problems with Firefox performance.
>>
>>109106559
you're dumb. compare the performance of those sites on the same machine with Thorium or even just ungoogled chromium. go ahead, just come back and post an honest appraisal of the speed difference.
>>
>>109106568
I use some of the services in Chromium too, because of different accounts for different customers. There is no perceivable difference in performance. I default to Firefox because I like the experience more.

what's a good alternative to ironfox? site randomly refuse to load and it's gotten worse over the last month
>>
>>109104024
Brave and just disable what you don’t need

Some will say Helium but it’s basically just Ungoogled chromium under a new name for now since it’s really early on
>>
>>109105434
You don't care about them either or you wouldn't own a phone, TV, have internet access, etc.
>>
>>109107406
I use Firefox but
>Helium
is nice, I hope they add Brave's new tree style tabs.
>>
>>109107406
Helium uses full ublock origin
It also doesn't call home like many other browsers
>>
https://github.com/ungoogled-software/ungoogled-chromium#downloads
>>
>>109107880
>Unreliable windows binaries
Nope
>>
>>109104052
Thorium is too slow on security updates, just use Ungoogled Chromium.
>>
>>109104024
>I care about privacy, security etc.

posted from my iphone using tapatalk
>>
>>109107252
>what's a good alternative to ironfox
just use regular Fennec anon,
>>
>>109104024
That's a you problem. And you're not really using Firefox if you use just the plain vanilla Firefox.
>>
>>109108463
who cares lol
no one is going to hack you
>>
>>109104244
>why would you not want to use the fastest open-source browser possible?
because that one doesnt support manifest v2, user.js, userChrome.css, userContent.css or Tree Style Tab extension
>>
>>109104052
Thorium is furry shit
It has its uses but I don't think using it for your main personal browser is the best use case, better to use ungoogled-chromium

>>109109268
no one is going to hack you until they do lol
>>
>>109104209
This.
>>109104222
How does ANY major browser have trouble rendering fucking protonmail? Specs? Are you on a potato from 2010?
>>
>ctrl-T
>ctrl-Z
>Chromium > Firefox
kek
>>
>>109109585
its not that bad but there is a noticeable lag
as soon as I use thorium the lag is negligent
>>
>>109109585
actually the site where its most noticeable is TradingView
on thorium, it actually runs smooth
on Firefox its dogshit
also I mentioned my specs earlier, keep up
