What's your DE of choice /g/? Without this devolving into a console war, state why you use one over the other, or perhaps avoid both.

xfce. does everything I want and nothing I do not.
>>
>>109105912
I had issues with Gnome that I didn't even once encounter with KDE, so I'm using KDE.
All the other more lightweight DEs irk me in one way or another, be it font rendering or features or opinionated approaches to certain things. I don't rice my desktop anymore, so a sane default is all I need and KDE provides just that.
>>

KDE
I come from windows so I can perfectly recreate my original workflow + even more freedom to change and move around what I want. It's basically all I'd want from a DE
I tried GNOME but it's just not something that I would want for actual PC use maybe just on a extra laptop or something. The main downsides of KDE is its kinda ugly, like some of the UI choices look really weird and theres some lack in continuity but papirus icons really maakes everything look good. It does have some bugs sometimes but its just about staying on a stable version while the newest stabilizes. Any other DEs are useless because their wayland support is bad. X11 is trash and it cant go away soon enough. (Also, HDR calibration which gnome lacks, stupidly)
>>
>>109105912
both are garbage for babies. if you're going to use a DE use xfce or something. white men use dwm
>>
>>109105962
you don't do anything though
>>
>>109105912
Both are trash, KDE slightly less so.
>>
I am using KDE. Gnome looks way nicer but I need to much extensions to make it work like I want so I use KDE.
>>

I do everything.
>>
>>109105912
You mean Xfce vs LXQt?

COSMIC

AI containment board.
>>
While I can find things I like in both, they're not compelling enough for me to pick over Windows.
>>
>>109105912
GNOME. I just like the look, how it functions, programs, and how uniform it all is. Sadly the browser and video player are absolutely worthless.
>>
>>109105912
GNOME isn't even a desktop environment, it's a joke environment

DEs have been deprecated by Wayland shells (noctalia, DMS)

Usecase for a tablet UI on a desktop?

KDE at least has some sane design choices, unlike GNOME.

OP is stuck using a outdated ai image model despite the ai having been improved as recently

The only correct answer. Labwc and noctalia for me.

my nigga
I do miss the overview sometimes though

gnome is made by white men. faggots, but white men at least.

It doesn't "win"

what wins is what I happen to vibecode - for me alone - in Fable.
>>
>>109106013
The GNOME 'Dash to Panel' extension gets you close to the Windows workflow. That is the thing I like about KDE as well, but I always find it's lacking refinement. There's too much emphasis on new features rather than fixes.

KDE.
I like the way Breeze looks, I hate how opinionated GNOME and GTK are. Also, when I made the switch (from MATE) GTK's filepicker was still shit. I hear it's since been fixed, and good for its users, but there's no reason for me to even give it a try now.
>>
>>109106078
Nobody uses LXQt, at least in desktop threads
>>

I need less, so I use LXQt

try firefox with wayland, or just admit you picked the wrong DE

KDE actually feels like a DE. Gnome feels like it was meant for a tablet.
>>
>>109105962
They should fix the fractional scaling. We've been waiting for this for a long time
>>
>>109105912
KDE: ugly, user-hostile touchpad gestures, global themes malware
GNOME: no folder previews

GNOME wins.

>just switch everything instead of your browser
Are you retarded? I get it, you have an irrational hatred of a DE, which is incredibly sad. I simply switched to a different browser that uses GTK4, same with replacing the default video player with MPV.
>>
>trackpad gestures
>touchscreen gestures
so 99% of footfags are just laptop users?
>>
>>109105912
Cinnamon because it is comfy and I've been on Mint since forever.

Gnome is somehow steadily getting worse over time. It's on Windows 11 trajectory. It's so beautiful at first but the more you use it the more irritating it feels.
