What's your DE of choice /g/? Without this devolving into a console war, state why you use one over the other, or perhaps avoid both.

>>109105912I had issues with Gnome that I didn't even once encounter with KDE, so I'm using KDE.All the other more lightweight DEs irk me in one way or another, be it font rendering or features or opinionated approaches to certain things. I don't rice my desktop anymore, so a sane default is all I need and KDE provides just that.
>>109105912KDEI come from windows so I can perfectly recreate my original workflow + even more freedom to change and move around what I want. It's basically all I'd want from a DEI tried GNOME but it's just not something that I would want for actual PC use maybe just on a extra laptop or something. The main downsides of KDE is its kinda ugly, like some of the UI choices look really weird and theres some lack in continuity but papirus icons really maakes everything look good. It does have some bugs sometimes but its just about staying on a stable version while the newest stabilizes. Any other DEs are useless because their wayland support is bad. X11 is trash and it cant go away soon enough. (Also, HDR calibration which gnome lacks, stupidly)

I am using KDE. Gnome looks way nicer but I need to much extensions to make it work like I want so I use KDE.

While I can find things I like in both, they're not compelling enough for me to pick over Windows.

>>109106013The GNOME 'Dash to Panel' extension gets you close to the Windows workflow. That is the thing I like about KDE as well, but I always find it's lacking refinement. There's too much emphasis on new features rather than fixes.
KDE.I like the way Breeze looks, I hate how opinionated GNOME and GTK are. Also, when I made the switch (from MATE) GTK's filepicker was still shit. I hear it's since been fixed, and good for its users, but there's no reason for me to even give it a try now.

Gnome is somehow steadily getting worse over time. It's on Windows 11 trajectory. It's so beautiful at first but the more you use it the more irritating it feels.
